Scholarship Breakdown by Position and Recruiting Class

Of which the seniors have none left... I'm assuming that's what he's asking, albeit a bit anxiously.

I'll be updating the chart with Adam Griffin's commitment tonight. At that time I'll shift out the seniors and everyone else over a column.

II got around to updating the chart with Griffin's commitment, but I'm holding off on shifting the classes over until I get a clear account of who redshirted from the 2009 class. I have a pretty good idea, and my wag at it is listed below. If I've miscounted someone as a redshirt who played, or failed to list some who didn't play, please post who I missed:

Recruiting class of 2009 redshirts:
  • [strike]Barnett[/strike]
  • Bellamy
  • Berry
  • Brown
  • Clarke
  • Fellows
  • Fields
  • [strike]Fragel[/strike]
  • Guiton
  • Hyde (was at FUMA)
  • Jackson
  • Linsley
  • Longo
  • Mewhort
  • Whiting
  • Wood

I seem to remember Barnett and Fragel playing...maybe someone else can confirm?

Bell RS'd I am sure and is #11, not 1...and while I'm at it, Jordan Hall's # is 29, not 25.

Also, don't forget that Keith Wells redshirted this year, so he will be a rising RS Soph.

I believe Hyde still has 5 years to play 4, so he didn't redshirt last year. As I understand it, he doesn't lose any eligibility playing football at FUMA. If he did lose a year, then Jamel Turner would have lost a year as well, playing there for a year as a senior in high school. If he redshirts this coming year, I think technically that makes last year a greyshirt year for him.

I think I heard Barrett and Fragel played, but I don't remember seeing either of them out there playing. Outside of that, I think everybody else for sure redshirted on that list.

He's technically still a part of the 2009 class, but he does have "5 to play 4" eligibility. I'll keep him under the freshman column, but his class color code will remain 2009 (sort of like how we did with Boeckman and how we're doing with Bauserman (he'll be a junior eligibility-wise but coded as part of the 2004 recruiting class). And if he (Hyde) redshirts this upcoming season, I'll again keep him in the freshman column for the next chart.

Barnett is listed as having 4 tackles on the year so it looks like he played. I also seem to recall Fragel getting in and possibly Melvin Fellows too.

Barnett and Fragel are listed on the NCAA page as a "OTHER PARTICIPANTS WITHOUT STATS" for the Navy game (first game I looked at), so that took care of those two real quick. Fellows definitely never played, as I went though each NCAA game page for Ohio State's 2009 games and did not find him listed at all on any of them.

I believe we're looking at an official number of 18, for now. That is the number of senior-to-be scholarship players, as listed in the chart.

Early departures (doesn't seem too likely, looking at the junior class), transfers, injuries, and academic casualties can all change this number. But I think it's safe to say that the Bucks are halfway done before summer even begins.

Early departures (doesn't seem too likely, looking at the junior class),
are you joking?
Not at all.

1) Posey- very deep WR class next year, deep RB stable for the Bucks. I'd be shocked if he goes, but it would mean the Bucks had a special year if he has an "early departure" type of year.
2) Pryor- Just don't see it. He won't go unless he's a top 15/first-round lock. Same as Posey, if that happens, very good times in Columbus.
3) Adams/Brewster/Shugarts- I suppose these would be the next most likely and none of them have stood out that much in their time. Adams, inconsistent. Shugarts, injured. Yes, Brewster has started two years, but he had some sophomore struggles and a center isn't leaving early (Pouncey was drafted as an NFL guard).
