Scholarship Breakdown by Position and Recruiting Class

Walk-Ons?

This Sunday, there was an article in the Chronicle Telegram (Elyria) about 5th year senior walk-on Brett Daly (also from Elyria) being put on scholarship for the '07 season. Just wondering if JT had mentioned over the weekend what walk-ons would be getting schollies for this fall. :pimp:

I'm sure all of the senior walk-ons will get their last year paid for since we have 8 open spots for the season now that Lukens has retired. The MO is to announce near the season opener, though it's often August before those slots open up. Signing to 85 is the norm, but the staff had to bank spots for the 2008 recruiting class...thus the small batch of signees this year and so many empty spots even before attrition.

Finally got around to fixing the Junior column total (and Senior column total). More than just correcting a minor counting error, this means that we actually have 14 ships to give, not the 13 we originally thought before verifying that Whaley is a senior eligibility-wise.

Mili, it mentions in the Sweat article that we are expected to have 16 commits. In a columbus dispatch article tressel mentions that he expects the number to be about 15. Are these numbers being strecthed a little or are they a possibilty? Are there expectations of players quitting or having scholarships being cut? Not real sure how this number of ships keeps getting bigger, but I would love to see this class get 16 players.

I would guess they expect a transfer or two, or some other "casualty". We've had a lot of folks checking our chart, so it should be spot-on as far as the correct amount of currently-available scholarships...I'm 99% sure we have 14 ships to give right now. The only question I know of right now is whether or not Whaley is a 5th senior (according to his official bio, he is, but supposedly Dave Biddle said in an article he's going to be a fourth-year junior).

Updated with Sweat commit. Also, I've been toying with the idea of moving Williams to the DE row, seeing as many--if not most--think he'll be treated more as a DE than LB once he sets foot on campus...
