Scholarship Breakdown by Position and Recruiting Class

With Underwood gone, I guess that brings the # upto 16. Also will be interesting to see how the Devon Torrence situation plays out. If the Astros pay for him, it'll bring the schollie limit upto 17, which is my lucky #, btw.

Also with some early defections like Jenkins, Laurinaitis, Boone and Gholston, the #'s going to get to around 20. Looks like it will be a fairly big class.

He still counts if he plays. http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/...n-torrence-official-thread-30.html#post867112

If he red shirts, I suppose they could give a scholarship to another player (walk-on senior) for 1 year, but couldn't give that slot to another 4 year scholarship player.

The count appears to be 16 at this stage. M. Jenkins & J. Laurenaitis could both go pro. There also will be some academic and medical departures. In the end I think this class could get up to 19 or 20.

All that and more has been discussed here...

Where do you guys see the next 7+ verbals coming from position-wise? I can tell that FB, DT, and QB are priorities, but beyond that I can't tell how many scholarships will be devoted to what positions.

Just wanted to tell you what you already know: it isn't just the kool-aid you drink - your recruiting class is extremely good. The only thing I see holding you guys back from a top 5 would be if you ended up needing to keep it to around 16 scholarships.

Preemptive thanks for answering the question.

The class is likely to end up around 18 or so, depending on who leaves early and another possibly transfer.

I'd say the staff wants a QB (Rpyor is the only target), at least one more WR (Fuller, Floyd, Tate or Jarboe), possibly a FB (Shuler or Schwartz) a TE (Koger or Ayles), one more OL (Jenkins is the top priority...not sure who they would look at after that [Shaw?]), at least one DT (Goebel is the top target...Justin Thompson, Willie Mobley, Shaw Rowell and Ben Jones are the other targets at this point), at least one more DE (Hale, Coples or Wells), two more LB/S (Scott and McCarthy are targets for sure...maybe Steve Gardiner?) and a pure CB (Pead, Woods, Adams, Whitlock, Harris?). So to sum it up with current commits listed:

QB: 1
RB: 1 (Torrence)
FB: 1
WR: 3 (Posey and Stoneburner)
OL: 4 (Shugarts, Brewster and Adams)
DT: 1
DE: 2 (Williams)
LB: 2 (Sweat)
CB: 1
S: 1
K: 1 (Buchanan)

That's 18...if they get one or two more then they will likely look to add another WR, CB or DT.

Mili, thanks for keeping the chart up to date. You have no idea how often I reference it.

Couple of suggestions though. I was just looking at the chart, and you might want to distinguish Ryan and Nathan Williams, and the Torrence's (probably more difficult ). Maybe even Hines as well, given there might be another one next year. :oh:

Secondly, like you put commits on top, it might be a good idea to list kids with offers right below the verbal commits. For example, Pryor, Hale, Goebel etc. would be listed right below our nine verbals so far. Thanks.

I want to keep reminding folks that although I'm currently taking care of the chart, Oh8ch is the one who conceived and created the chart. Any reps should go to him (well, I'll reluctantly accept a few leftovers after you rep him ).
