Scott Peterson: Murderous Monster or Unluckiest S.O.B. Ever?

Am I Allowed To Say That?

Wouldn't be the first time a man was convicted in the media, and the media got it wrong. Remember Richard Jewell?

A&E has run an extensive series on the murder of Laci Peterson and her unborn son, Connor, and the ensuing trial of her husband, Scott.

It's established the Scott was unfaithful, a liar, and all-around not-so-great husband. But, the appeal team featured on the show brought out a ton of information we never heard during the Nancy Grace-driven feeding frenzy that surrounded this case.

The worst confirmed evidence against Scott, for me, is the fact that he lied to his girlfriend Amber Frey about already having "lost" his wife weeks before Laci disappeared. Hence, my "unluckiest S.O.B." phrase in the title. Talk about some instant karma, if all he was really doing was cheating on his pregnant wife and lying about being single to his clueless girlfriend so he could string her along.

I'm not saying I'm convinced he's innocent. Wasn't there. Can't be any more absolutely positive than I am about O.J. Again, wasn't there, can only surmise and take my best guess.

What does seem clear is that given all the irregularities with deceitful jurors, failure to introduce relevant defense witnesses, prosecution "experts" later proven to be incompetent or applying faulty pseudo-science, suppression of evidence and possibly deliberate misinformation publicly disseminated by the Modesto police, that at the very least the guy now sitting on death row is entitled to another trial.

One thing that, as far as I know, during the trial or during the A&E show, was never brought up is the tragic number of pregnant women who have been abducted specifically because some loony wanted their baby. We had an incident here in Ohio years ago, in Cleveland. Strange to me that, while the defense apparently toyed with suggesting Satanic cults as a motive, they never brought this one up as a possibility. It's so common, horrifyingly, that you pull up columns of articles about it in a search. It even has a term: Fetal Abduction.

the burglary across the street bothered me a little but just a little… He is guilty as hell. No one should have to lie like he did without an alternative motive like killing his pregnant wife.

Yeah, what was especially concerning about the burglary was the one witness who said she saw them there on the 24th, but the cops tried to say it was after Christmas. Problem being, there were reporters living in front of that house after Laci disappeared, so no way anyone was burgling a house without being seen--they'd have had to drive their getaway truck thru the TV station's trucks.

I also find the nearly-pristine condition of the baby's body after supposedly four months in the water kind of troubling. If someone had held Laci, and she'd given birth before they both died, it was certainly no secret where the cops believed Scott had dumped her body. Seems like an awfully long time for them to have been submerged. Along those lines, there is both the fact that another woman's body had washed up with the same damage as Laci's--missing body parts. And, on the last show, a pregnant woman who became very alarmed by two men skulking around outside her shop for a prolonged time staring at her before coming inside. If you didn't see it, she was so disturbed by their behavior and vibe that she ran and hid in the back of the store to call the cops. The guys took off. She was also eight months pregnant, and this creepy event happened right before Laci went missing.

If Scott hadn't had the girlfriend, with the "lost" wife lie, he'd quite possibly have gotten off. Calling your girlfriend up from the service being held for your missing wife & baby is, shall we say, not a good look. Old boy kinda hung himself. No one's exactly diagnosed it, but he does appear to have a bolt or two loose.
