Michigan coach suspends Stenavich

Marshfield News-Herald
University of Michigan football player Adam Stenavich has been suspended by his coach while an invesitation continues over his behavior in a Marshfield bar while he was visiting home over the Thanksgiving break.

Stenavich, 21, an offensive tackle for the Rose Bowl-bound and Big Ten champion Wolverines, was recently named first-team All-Big Ten by the conference coaches and second-team by the conference media.
He was arrested for disorderly conduct Nov. 28, and Marshfield police have requested that the Wood County district attorney file state criminal charges against him. The charges arose after an incident at the Elixir Nite Club after he was asked to leave by an employee, and had to be removed by police.
No charges had been announced as of Wednesday night. The district attorney's office has refused comment since the incident, saying only that it is still under investigation.

At a pre-Rose Bowl trip news conference Wednesday, Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr said: "I suspended him pending finding out exactly what happened there."
"Adam Stenavich has not practiced in the last few practices, because of the suspension," he added.

A Detroit News report on the press conference quoted Carr as saying Stenavich "will not start the Rose Bowl."
"I'm hoping that in the next day or two I will have all the information, and at that point I'll make a decision on whether or not he accompanies the team to Los Angeles," the coach said.

Stenavich has not responded to repeated requests for comment.

Two scUM players arrested within a couple weeks of each other. Shocking!

I'm sure ESPN will send some folks to Ann Arbor to investigate any other potential problems on the team. :tongue2:

Normally, I'd expect Carr to say one thing and then do another (insinuate the player won't start, but then play most of the game), but for some reason I won't be surprised, like I normally would be, if he indeed leaves him home when the team goes to the Rose Bowl. I think he wants to set his team straight after getting blasted by us...

and they wondered why we searched them....they're full of criminals
Only privacy laws prevented authorities from mentioning the inflatable doll in Larry Harrison's gym bag. But since it was legal and only made of latex and rubber, they couldn't take it off his hands.

Not that you'd want to take anything from his hands.

Speaking of weasels. I just find joy in the fact that one of scUM's best offensive players in their history will only be remembered by me for his nice little drop on 4th and 1 to cap of a Buckeye thrashing of the joke of a team that showed up to Columbus that day. That is one of my favorite scUM "screw-ups" that i've seen in The Game. My favorite is still back in 2001:

scUM is down 21-0 against Tressel's Buckeyes, and has the ball deep in their own territory. They bring in a QB, whose name I don't know and don't care to know, from the bench and as he is back in the shotgun, he notices his boyfriend in the crowd and doesn't realize that the ball is sailing over his head and into the endzone for a saftey. 23-0 Buckeyes...and it ain't even halftime yet. :)
