High School Sep 9 Tx vs. Colerain HS Game (merged)

From the article.
Now all of the Cincy people that hate C-Bus can bitch even more.

don't be quick to fret...I know a lot of people in the Colerain community that are very excited about playing this game in Columbus and having the support of fans of Ohio h.s. football and OSU cheer the kids on!

I will say this...Colerain plays on Sunday Sept. 3rd at Paul Brown Stadium against Covington (KY) Catholic. Last year the OHSAA made Colerain take 5 full days of rest before they were allowed to play again against Princeton...If the OHSAA enforces that rule again (and I believe they should for the health of the kids) the game will be played the same day as OSU v. Texas.

H&G

Any word on where the game will be played, I have been thinking and on that date I don't see it being anywhere but Crew Stadium. Hopefully everyone gets out and fills the joint up, I would prefer it on Friday though v Saturday. It would make the travel between a little easier.

Again I ask to please keep everyone posted.

Oops, I was confused about what IronBuckI meant. I see you are SUGGESTING a Sunday game. Would be a little anti-climactic, but it might have to be that way....

I love when you get the rare cross-regional match-up like this. In the last few years, top Ohio programs have scheduled games against top programs from Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, and Indiana. Interesting matchups, but still regional games. I can't remember the last time an Ohio school played a team from this far away in a game. (All of those match-ups against Washington DC teams don't count. Or the Canadian blow-outs!)

H&G, Colerain loses some big-time players in the Byrd brothers, Simpson, Coombs, Dominique (?) and Goodman. They are an awesome program, and they'll do fine at most of those positions, but the one I'm wondering about is QB. Will they still put up 40+ a game without Goodman?

My fault...sorry. I looked at my calander wrong.

Last year Colerain played in the 'Prep Classic' at Paul Brown Stadium and that game was on a Sunday. Colerain asked Princeton if they would move their Friday game to a Saturday to accomodate an extra day of rest. Princeton agreed.

This year the Prep Classic will be played on Saturday, Sep. 3rd...so it is very possible that the Colerain v. Tyler game will be played on Friday the 9th.

The ONLY stadium that I have heard for this game is Crew Stadium.

Sorry for the confussion...I guess I got a little too excited with the news...:(

That is a valid question. All I can tell you is that Colerain has failed to score fewer then 21 points in any game once since the opening game of the 2001 season (a 21-14 loss to Moeller in week one of that season)...If Eugene Clifford moves from Safety to QB I think he will aquit himself very well...he is as big as Goody but much faster. But it may take him a little longer to handle the position then Goody. Goody was the back up to Fitzpatrick for two years and he got a lot of snaps in garbage time...Clifford has not taken an offensive snap at QB since junior high. It is a big question mark for sure. What helps is that Schearer and Lumpkin will be in the backfield again. The offensive line (which Jim Tressel called the best unit that he had ever seen in high school) returns three starters in Wyatt, Ornella and Smith. That will help Clifford out tremendously.
