I like many others will remember what exactly we were doing at that time. And I remember how time just felt like it had come to a complete halt. September 11th will always be fresh in my mind, not because of what they did to our nation, but those who will always be remembered for living in this great place, the sacrifice that day, and those lives lost. And to those currently serving, thank you, for allowing us to have the greatest privilege of all, freedom. I and we will never forget. USA!! USA!! USA!!

Crazy day when Flight 93 crashed 30 miles from my home at the time.........

Never forget looking out the window and seeing 2 F-16 Fly by saying to myself WTF is going on......

Never Forget! I think that day and beyond, I myself have become MORE patriotic about everything. National Anthem still brings a tear to my eye.

USA!!!!!!!

I still get chocked up when thinking about that day. I was making a sales call in the ED at Mt. Carmel Hospital. I was watching it unfold in the break room with a bunch of EMT's and Nurses. I rushed home and saw my wife with an expression I have never seen. I picked up my innocent 4 month old daughter and held her and thought to myself, thank god you'll never remember this day.

I have an in utero photo of my son dated with a time stamp of: 9/11/01 8:58 am. When the Doc came in, he made some comment about how a small plane had apparently run in to the WTC (what he had heard on the radio) and we exchanged quips about how in the world something like that could happen before getting on with the appointment.

We were, obviously, at a pre-natal visit when it happened. I listened to some CD on my way in to work, so no news. In fact, I didn't know it had happened at all until the first tower was already down. I wouldn't have known even then, if Ryn hadn't called me to say we were under a terrorist attack. I was oblivious to the fact that I was the only person sitting at my desk working on the entire floor.... hell... probably the entire building. I literally had no clue anything was going on...

The soon-to-be wife and I were on a trip to Baltimore. I had tickets to an Orioles - Blue Jays game for that day. I had wanted to see Ripken play one more time since he was retiring after that season.

We drove most of the night to get to the hotel in Glen Burnie and woke up to see the 2nd plane hit. once the towers came down we decided it would be a good idea to check out and come on home.

I remember the night before while driving though southern PA and central Maryland had a large and bright moon that dominated the night sky as we drove.

It was surreal when we got back since where I was staying is in the flight path for Port Columbus to not hear any planes going overhead. in fact, when one plane DID go overhead, it felt like a duty to go out and look at it.

I remember that that was a particularly clear day. Really, it was a beautiful day weather-wise and I remember specifically thinking that on my walk from my parking place to work. Nice fall breeze in the 70 degree air... it was damn near perfect.... hard to believe it was so fucked up.

I must have written about this before here somewhere, but my 9/11 experience had me watching the planes hit.

I went to school on 5th Avenue. Each side of the street perfectly framed the World Trade Center buildings.

As always, I was looking the wrong direction. I saw the plane go overhead peripherally and then saw the reactions of my friends faces. I turned around just in time for the explosion. We assumed it was a small private plane and went in to our 9:00 am class. We had been hanging out outside before class started.

A few minutes into class a kid burst through the door. The professor yelled at him for gawking at the scene outside, but then he mentioned the other tower had been hit. Our building was evacuated.

My roommate and still my best friend (and a Buckeye :) ) was a pilot for Delta. I booked ass home to see if he was there; I hadn't seen him that morning.

All phones went out, we had internet just long enough to say my friend was okay (for obvious reasons everyone was most concerned about him).

We lived in the Village in the closed off zone. It was surreal for a while as it smelled like melted plastic or something, though really with the winds I think Brooklyn got most of the odor. It was a little hard to get food, and I skated down the deserted empty avenues.

Hmm. I could go on forever. A few people from my class died. People became much friendlier. I don't know.

One thing I do know is that New Yorkers don't have anywhere near the worry or hatred about 9/11 that middle Americans do.

I will add that it didn't seem real at first. It was just a structure. That was until I saw a guy jump out. That made it real really quickly.
