SF Justin Ahrens (transfer to Loyola Marymount)

Timing is right after the Jerome Hunter commitment to Indiana, so it seems pretty obvious that Coach Holtmann wants some Ohio player in this class, therefore Ahrens gets the offer. He was a plan B, obviously, but he's not a bad option, even if some services have him in the 150-range. He doesn't look as college-ready as Jallow is, but they are similar guys...SF's who are decent ball-handlers.

cohill, days, and devoe will also be visiting this weekend.

OSU basketball begins official visit slate with Locke

Sept. 22-24 (OSU-UNLV football weekend)

Justin Ahrens, 6-5, small forward, Versailles, Ohio – Ahrens is a former OSU commit. He de-committed after Thad Matta was fired in early June. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 178 prospect and No. 43 small forward. He also has a visit set to Michigan (Sept. 9). Other schools in his top six include Dayton, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Xavier.

Ahrens visited scUM this past weekend and one of their "insiders" put his crystal ball on Ahrens going there after the visit. Hopefully Ahrens still takes his official next weekend even though Cohill won't be in Columbus.

I do not get the connection between Ahrens and Cohill since Justin is getting in and home visit today and Cohill has committed to Dayton. I do not think that CH would be make an in-home visit if he did not think that Ahrens would not make an official visit.

Because they had planned a month or 2 ago to visit OSU together next weekend. Holtman better visit Ahrens tonight and try to sell him on OSU or he isn't doing his job.

Will former Buckeyes commit make final pledge to Ohio State?

Ohio State: “They are really cool. They are saying they are the one place that needs me really bad and want me really bad. They feel like they could use me right away with the roster they have and I feel like I could be a great player there.

“I de-committed when I didn’t know who the staff was going to be. I wanted to take a step back and look at everything again. And I knew that if the staff there was somebody I got along with, they were going to recruit me again. You could say they were my dream school growing up, but I’m just trying to do what’s best for me and my future, which is winning a lot, being at a place where I fit in, and a place where I’m needed and wanted really bad. It’d be a plus to go to Ohio State with it being my dream school, but that’s not really going to weigh into my decision.

...

RIVALS REACTION

Mack pulled out all the stops in his most recent visit with Ahrens and going last on his official visit tour gives them the final shot to win him over, but Ohio State is going to be hard to beat here. Ahrens said multiple times that he’s looking for a school that he feels needs him and really wants him, and also said that’s exactly what Chris Holtmann’s pitch has been. At the end of the day, it’s hard to see Ahrens not picking the Buckeyes.
