SG Austin Grandstaff (transfer to Oklahoma, transfer to DePaul, transfer to Texas A&M-Commerce)

OSU currently is set to have only 3 guys on roster at the 1 and 2 in '15, so I'd say we really could use, and plan to add, another guy who can play at the 1 or 2. Tate could play some 2, but he's clearly more of a SF at the moment.

I know it's the wrong thread, but I don't think one exists. Matta is supposedly visiting Andrew Fleming from Nashville tomorrow, SG in the 2015 class. It was stated in a tweet from Jerry Meyer of 247sports.

But look at what else is out there, VJ King in 2016 an athletic wing who is a good shooter that I believe will pick OSU. You could have a team with Tate, KBD, and VJ King along with the trio of Russell, Harris and Kam Williams eventually. Now, you don't necessarily have many classic SGs there but with that group in mind, I am OK with not getting any SG in 2015.

KDB is not going to play the 2 here. Tate right now is a much better fit at the 3, could maybe give us some 2 minutes if he improves his ball handling and shooting. But of players that can definitely play the 1 and 2, we are only guaranteed to have 2 guys for those positions on roster in '15 (Harris and Kam). I fully believe DAR will be here, but many seemed convinced he will be here 2 years at most and if he's good enough to be a 2 and done, he could be a 1 and done. So if he returns that leaves 3 guys for the '15 season that are best positioned to play the 1 and/or 2. Could we live with just having those 3 guys with Tate filling in a few minutes? Probably, but we'd be much better positioned if we had another guard because the guys we have for the big wing position are probably closer to being 4's than 2's.

Now, if our only option is someone outside the top 150, then maybe you take your chances with the '16 class, but King seems like he fits more as the big wing (maybe not quick enough to guard eilte 2G's) and the other top OH guys are PF/C types.

Austin Grandstaff consistently put on a show. When Grandstaff is on, there are few players more dangerous offensively in the class of 2015. And he was on this weekend. Through four games, the former Oklahoma State commit averaged 20.5 points – making 13 3-pointers. Grandstaff has deep range on his jumper and is also adept at pulling up off the dribble and burying a shot. Florida watched him closely in Sacramento, and Billy Donovan was among the head coaches that visited Grandstaff last week. Oklahoma's Lon Kruger and Michigan's John Beilein also visited him last week. Grandstaff is planning to visit Ohio State next weekend.

IMO, we need a 2G in the 2015 class pretty badly. That is why Kennard was a big loss as he fit a needy spot.

Russell will likely start at 2G this coming season, 14-15, but once Scott has graduated he wants to take over at PG and display his point skills to NBA scouts. So I think he'll mostly play 2G this season and then mostly PG the next. He could be a 2&d, I doubt he'll leave after 1. Thus leaving 6'2 Kam as the only 2G on the roster ( I think Sam Thompson will play it a little this season ). So it is a position of need in the 15 class, IMO. I don't think we'll see a PF-in-a-3-body like Tate playing the 2G. IMO, the F spots are really filling up but the G troupe is thin for the next couple years now.

That is why TM and staff have been after other G's besides Kennard - they see the need there too. Grandstaff would be great as he is a sharp shooter. I know he was scheduled for his OFFICIAL VISIT this weekend but I don't know when it starts and ends. Could Boals' tweet have been referencing AG? Or was it about EA?

IMO, we need a 2G in this 2015 class and I'd even lean to another G ( combo like D'AR ) in this class over too many more F's. We have 4 young Fs now. I don't think we should take more than 1 more. Esa or Bragg. We need some G depth more now IMO!

While I agree that we need a 2G in the 2015 class just like we need a C because I do not have very high hopes for Bell. However, regarding Grandstaff if you believe the guys over at 247Sports it is either going to be Oklahoma or Florida for him but maybe Matta can work his magic this weekend.
