SG Austin Grandstaff (transfer to Oklahoma, transfer to DePaul, transfer to Texas A&M-Commerce)

More of a 4 (and we have many lined up it seems), but I didn't think we were involved with Thomas?
he may think of himself as a 4, but he's only a 4 if he loses a lot of weight. right now, he's a center. at ohio state, he would be a center because you can't keep the other 3/4s off the court.

we are absolutely involved with thomas. we haven't had him to visit, but i'm sure we will. thomas isn't deciding until 1/15, so the lack of noise isn't disconcerting. i think interest picks up quickly, though.

edit: it's hardly even about weight with thomas. he just has a sloppy body right now, which is amazing since he's a dancing bear.

Good to know, I do not follow bball recruiting quite as close as football. I know Thomas is a big name, I just didn't know we were in the mix.

that's probably because thomas has a fluid list and hasn't attempted to narrow it down much. we've been consistently and recently mentioned, though. i doubt his interest in us wanes between now and mid-january.

i still think we end up getting giddens, but who really knows. most here and elsewhere hadn't heard of grandstaff until very recently.

Agreed. I love Giddens' game and think that he picks the good guys. Can definitely move this to the general thread but with the surprise Grandstaff commit, I am even more pumped about this class overall. Add a big and this class is easily top 5. Considering our needs, maybe the best in the country.

Re: Grandstaff is not only friends with Mitchell, but is also AAU teammates with five-star power forward Elijah Thomas, who tweeted his congratulations, adding, "you just made this tough on me". The Buckeyes are after Thomas, also a Texan, and have already cracked his top nine or ten.
The 2015 class now stands at three, with Mitchell, Grandstaff and Dayton Dunbar point guard A.J. Harris. This ucclass is ranked #2 overall per the 247Sports Team Composite ranking, with room yet to grow.

Let's hope both Mitchell and Grandstaff can now help talk Thomas into being a Buckeye too.

maybe the best but almost assuredly the most balanced if giddens, thomas, or moore commits. thomas probably impacts us earlier, so i'm hoping he realizes what a great opportunity he would have here.

Exactly. Every position of need filled and with elite talent. Electric PG who can distribute, SG who can shoot lights out and is pretty athletic, incredibly athletic and tough PF, and all we need is a center (Thomas, Giddens, or Moore) and a forward (Bragg or Ahmad). Glad to see us wrap up Grandstaff though, I was concerned about getting a SG before he committed out of the blue...the rest of the positions will be in good shape.

Encouraged by how much he's getting to the line showing he's not just settling for jump shots, but man, he's taking a lot of shots and not shooting it very well right now. Not too worried about it given he's shown to be a good shooter in the past and FT numbers are good, but he sure isn't shy about putting up shots even when they are not falling.
