I didn't know that he had a son - usually I'd agree and say stick the year out, don't quit on your teammates, etc. but it sounds like being closer to home will be better for him, and it has to be even tougher around the holidays. You don't get that time back with your kid.

That said....I hope it was his decision and not the helicopter around him.

One of the worst transfer decisions I have ever seen. It is so early that he cost himself half a season of games for practically no reason (can play again in a year, but only as a sophomore), he had barely been on the team and was averaging double-digit minutes, and he/HIS DAD acknowledge some mistakes on D, and knowing he is a liability on D, he deserves more minutes (without having to earn those minutes) in their eyes? I expected a much more disciplined, team-oriented attitude from the son of a coach, clearly I was mistaken. I wonder how many guys Wes plays 11 minutes a game or less, and how he feels about those players.

If the issue is lack of playing time, and Austin was playing for the worst Buckeye team in years (probably over a decade), what kind of team will give him minutes? A D-III squad? I'm watching WVU-Marshall right now, and Marshall is a 3-6 MAC team, and every guy on the floor for them is far better than Austin. He'd get less playing time for Marshall than he's averaging for OSU.

Indeed thought he had a pretty good chance of Challenging 3blier for the OSU 3pt record but not worth the hassle if his dad is going to meddle his whole career.

It;s a really weird situation as his had who apparently is a coach? Admits his son isn't better then Loving or Diop. Thus admits he shouldn't play over those guys but instead of advising his son to work hard at his D and rebounding advises him to quit and transfer instead?

Always confusing when players leave due to playing time. Miss half of this season, miss all of next season.... My first thought was he was leaving due to poor team performance, team not jelling, and what appears to be mediocre player development. My guess is he thinks he can become better prepared to be an NBA player somewhere else, because it's not happening here.

You may be right. I recall Austin making an extremely quick verbal to Oklahoma State, and then backing off of that and saying they were going to take their time and make the right choice. Now they are convinced after 10 games that he hasn't made the right choice and claim they didn't watch OSU. Well at what point are you going to start taking college decisions seriously, Mr. Grandstaff???

College basketball is pure $$$. The kid and his family should do what everyone else does; look out ffor themselves and what they think puts them in a better position to arrive to the $$$ wether it's now or two months from now.
As for matta, he should have filled up with $$$ by now. Yet he does not seem to have solved the equation for the top players and the $$$ environment and who to recruit and who to keep from bolting. Maybe it's time to go enjoy life and take care of his health?

Oh how I miss the dings. Any way to bring them back for special occasions, like sheer stupidity? Not saying Matta is perfect, but he has done more for tOSU basketball than anyone in my lifetime except for Fred Taylor.
