Shooting Guard
Baltimore, Maryland
Mount St. Joseph
AAU: Baltimore Elite
Ht: 6'2"
Wt: 165 lbs.
Class: 2013 (High School)

Strengths:
Whether it's with his high school or travel team, Williams gets cast in the role of scorer, specifically shooter. Leave him open and he's nailing the shot. Moves exceptionally well so he'll get lost and then boom, count it. Prefers to work the baselines where he can get loose. Quick reflexes help him get his shot off in tight spaces.

Weaknesses:
There's a long and storied history of thin wings turning into players. From Juan Dixon to the Curry's, Eric Maynor and C.J. McCollum to name a few. Williams is as skinny or skinnier than everyone on that list. He's also got as much leaping ability as one can pack into his frame. If he puts on weight, that would be huge but he doesn't have a body that translates to 25 more pounds. Therefore, he must maximize the muscle he has. Long term he may want to develop point guard attributes so he can make himself more of a threat. He doesn't pass enough to show what he can do as a play maker.

Bottom Line:
He's one of the most difficult evaluations because of his body style. He's going to encounter problems defensively at the highest level because of his size. He's also going to shoot the ball well enough to be a factor. The question is: highest level mid-major or niche high-major prospect? He'll have to make that decision on his own as he'll have both options.

This kid wasn't that big either and he had no problem playing at the "major college level". Weight isn't everything.

Burson was extremely strong for his size. I vividly remember he was said to have regularly lifted with the Offensive Lineman in his time at OSU. He supposedly benched over 350 at 155 lbs. Little guys who excell in basketball, like Burson and Scoonie Penn, seem to be extremely strong for their size.

Sounds like they might be looking at "designated shooters" with the recruiting of Della Valle and now Kam Williams. Also sounds like he may decide in the next couple weeks. Us or cryami. I hope the weather is nice for his visit this weekend, since he might be comparing it to Miami.

Williams led the Nike EYBL in scoring this year, over 22 a game. With the players that Matta has at OSU at this time, if DT goes pro after this year they will need someone who likes to take a lot of shots (even if DT doesn't leave early he's only got one year left when the '13 recruits hit college campuses) because the other guys weren't high volume shot takers. Kam could be that guy to feed shots to. But they also had a team that didn't have a very good percentage on 3s last year and lost their best shooter in WB (he didn't shoot the highest %, but he was the one they ran plays for and was best at executing plays for long shots in the halfcourt). They will need a guard to run plays for in the future, and that's where Kam could fit in no doubt.
