SG Kameron Williams (Sayago - Uruguay)

I think going with the small lineup is hurting Kam's minutes. Tate seems to be playing more since he is a bigger guy.
I don't know that it has to do with going small, but if the team is switching to m-t-m primarily then it may be that Matta is interested in limiting Kam's minutes against certain guards who are good at driving to the basket, as he seemed to struggle with keeping some of the Minnesota guards from doing that in the m-t-m, just not a physical defender at all. So it could be that he might get more minutes against the teams with less physical or less aggressive drivers. The Illinois game, I just kind of throw that one out the window as Matta seemed to just stick with the group that got his team on a big run for the most part. I do think it is important to get Kam out there a stretch in each half to make sure that Shannon and D'Angelo are able to get a rest. I can see Kam isn't the strongest defender on the team but he is quick and active on defense.

He might be my favorite player on this team. I have heard that he is probably the most athletic guy on the team and I guess that his defense held him back a little from getting earlier playing time.. Just love the kid.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- It was around this time last year when Kam Williams started to lose his game.

Fifteen games into Ohio State's 2014-15 campaign, Williams was exactly what Thad Matta wanted him to be. He was a spark, a legit scoring threat off the bench who did more than just bring energy. Williams produced on the scoring sheet, too.

Fifteen games into Ohio State's 2015-16 campaign, Williams is exactly what Matta wants him to be. With a better understanding of his role, Williams is flourishing as a sort of sixth man for the Buckeyes. He's been just as big a part of Ohio State's six-game winning streak as any other player.

"Kam is a terrific kid. Kam is a guy that pours his heart and soul into the team," Matta said. "He does it through his own work ethic. He does it through just being a good teammate. I think that he's seeing the validity of what he brings to our team."

Great shooter but at the college level, I love players that have passion and care about their teammates. Watch Kam throughout a game and he has that. Probably a really random observation but I always notice that when one of our players makes a play, he is in the background getting amped. Hope he can keep it up, really like Kam.

Kam's a gym rat. If you want to find him, you'll find him in the gym, trying to get better. That kind of drive was something I always admired Evan Turner for, and that drive is what helped make him the Naismith award winner and the #2 overall pick.

Love the way Kam plays and how he's embraced his role on this team. One of his most underrated aspects is how he plays defense off the ball. If you watch him play D, he's like watching a cornerback on a wide receiver. Well on his way to becoming a fan favorite on a team with a number of hard working guys

Kid knows how to score without a doubt. I love the mid range jumper too! With him coming along I really see 3 spots now that are gelling on the team. RB mentioned that excitement for his teammates, I really see that same thing out of a lot of the guys on the bench and on the floor. There's fire there that maybe hasn't been for a couple of years. Just need a little more gelling at the point and this team might end up making a lot of noise.
