Do not buy the wall that much. Just a little over a month ago Holtmann said that he was one of the freshman that he was not very concerned about because he was so well conditioned. Maybe trying to do things that he is not capable of or playing out of control might be examples of Exhibit A.

At this point it has to be mental. I've never seen a player fall off a cliff so abruptly. He went from being one of our best players to one of the worst I've ever seen almost overnight. It's crazy. Hopefully they get it fixed in the offseason, because he showed flashes of being a really, really good player.

Had some really good offensive games against Nebraska, Rutgers, and Penn State. He was playing within the offense, taking what was given him. Then, I don't remember if it was the IU game or the U of I game, but he started forcing things. I remember watching whatever game that was and thinking that coach must have told him they needed more from him on the offensive end. Whether it was coach or Luther taking it upon himself, his focus needs to return to being the defensive stopper.

if he tightens up his handle and develops his get-to-the-basket game, luther is going to explode. projects to have a major freshman-to-sophomore transition. really love the outlook of our 2-guards (other being washington, of course). complement each other very well.

muhammad's handle and decision-making are a major obstacle, though. i don't trust him when the ball is in his hands.

I trust him when his mind is made up to attack, but diagnosing or facillitating absolutely not

Luther is ready for prime time

“I’ll say I think I’m maybe due for a good game,” Muhammad said Thursday. “I felt like I started hitting shots in the Big Ten tournament so that’s putting me on the right track leading up to now. Coming into this game on the right track offensively.”

That type of blunt confidence is something he brought with him from high school. It’s also something that made him a bit of a social media sensation in 2016 when he faced now Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Collin Sexton at the City of Palms tournament at Florida South Western State College.

“Up until the day we played them all of my friends knew about him and knew he was a pretty good player, but I didn’t know about him,” Muhammad said. "I like to compete so I knew coming into the game it was going to be a hell of a game. You have to come in with your A game. I was looking forward to the game, I was very intense.”

“Towards the end, it was two teams talking smack and going at it,” Muhammad said. “I didn’t really have much to say because we were winning. I just was like ‘you’re talking, but we’re about to win the game,’ that was about it.”

That same level of confidence is why he feels that he’s primed for a breakout game in the NCAA tournament. He’s hasn’t shot the ball well, but it hasn’t made him shy away from aggressively looking for his shot or get down on himself when someone makes a shot on him.

“When you’re missing shots, confidence plays a big factor,” Muhammad said. “You have to keep your confidence when you miss shots because if you start losing your confidence you’re never going to get back on track.”

Ball security is his biggest flaw by far and that can get better with a lot of practice and understanding his role in how the Offense works.

He just needs to focus on being the best defensive player in college basketball, which I think he could, right now and let his offense come to him. Similar to the path that David Lighty was on here. He turned out just fine.
