SG Musa Jallow (transfer to Charlotte)

I don't know why Musa would stay here. He's been given no reason to feel confident about having a substantial role next season as a junior. Makes too much sense for his career for him to have a sit-out year to work on his game and then play for a team that can give him a lot of minutes.

he's been given little reason to feel confident about a substantial role next season, and he's given little reason to feel confident about having a substantial role next season.

unfortunately, jallow is a complete non-threat to score on a team that already doesn't threaten to score. perhaps he'd have a narrow role next season as a defensive stalwart when facing a high-scoring small forward, but it's just so hard to find minutes for someone otherwise when you know the four teammates must assume the player's offensive burden pretty much every single game. in jallow's last 5 games, his combined totals are 31 minutes, 2 points, and 3 rebounds. since conference play resumed, he's had 11 games of double-digit minutes. of those 11 games, he's gone scoreless in 5 of them while scoring no more than 3 points in 8 of them.

anyway, it's rather unsurprising and even uncanny that jallow's stats are pretty much the exact same this season compared to last. standing still is regression.

Sort of feel bad for the kid. Gave up his final year of high school basketball thinking that he could play at the college level. Just wonder if that senior year in high school could have helped him any. Also, I just hope that CH did not put too much pressure on him telling him that he was ready for big time basketball.

I thought he played fairly well against Michigan State today. It will be interesting to see if he keeps on seeing the same type of minutes in their next game(s). Kid has incredible athletic ability, played solid defense, and even shot the ball (once) with confidence.

I’m an old school Laker from the 80s having grown up in So Cal and always loved what AC Green brought to those championship teams. If Moose can contribute like that he can certainly be a benefit.

Musa has been reminding me of a young Corey Brewer lately if he upgrades his handle and shooting I still think the kid will be just fine... kid is an 18 yr old sophmore, if any player on the team deserves our patience while he develops it is him.
