SG Musa Jallow (transfer to Charlotte)

Based off of his performance so far, I would venture to say if he had stayed and completed his Senior season, he might have been bordering 5 star status before his senior season ended, he does so many things well already, and the kid has the thing that all key contributors have.... confidence and a belief in himself that at 17 years of age allows him to compete and look like he belongs and in some ways stand out at the collegiate level already.

Jallow is 17-yo so I expect him to be up and down this season, for sure, but he needs to get a bit of his good mojo back. He had a horrible PK80. I can live with the scoring droughts because he wasn't expected to be a big scorer for us this season but he is a starter playing starter minutes and the production isn't there and the D has been slipping, too. Most troubling thing is the rebounding, which has vanished. He had what, 1 rebound in 60 plus minutes of PT the past 3 games? 6'1 CJ is rebounding it better!

I noticed that Jallow seemed a bit frustrated all weekend, I believe he has to get used to the referee bias, because him and Kaleb were both jawing at the refs all weekend, there was actually a point where I believe his name is coach Johnson had to reality check Kaleb because he was looking for fouls, and it seemed he was telling Kaleb that the refs didn't owe him anything...but not as politely, and even though the big guy was getting raped by big men all weekend. I don't know how many FT's he shot over the weekend, but he should have shot more. Point being there will be some growing pains with both players this season, and they will learn that they are going to have to earn respect from these refs. It shouldn't be that way but when you are a freshman playing big minutes on a rebuilding team, tough luck.

I was thinking the other night that perhaps Ho1tmann should have may be redshirted Musa this season but I guess you do not redshirted a kid after he graduates early from high school in order to help you out with depth problems. Plus, I think it is helpful for next season that he will be able to help the new guys coming on board having gone through a full season of playing a big time schedule. He also will have some idea on what he needs to work on during the off-season and I just realized this is a way too early post:shake:

Redshirting Musa would have been a really bad decision from the OSU standpoint. He helped them win some games early in the year, and started for a short while. The team was really low in terms of players and they needed him for this year for that reason. He provides a valuable bench wing athlete to help in case of foul problems and give the starters a rest. For Musa, yeah he would be a better college player in 2022 than he is in 2018, but he made the decision that he wanted to play this year.
