As a third-year player, McNeil shot 36.8% from 3-point range and averaged 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 32 games for West Virginia. He also committed 1.1 fouls per 40 minutes, the third-lowest mark in the nation according to KenPom.com. McNeil also averaged a career-high 33.6 minutes per game.

Vs Nigel Pack and his crew. Looks like a cross between Ahrens and Kyle Young to me. Doesn't have Kyle's energy or "man-ness" or Ahrens smooth stroke but he can go off the dribble and has great range. Hope he pans out in Scarlet and Gray

Not a PG and not a great defender but he has the tools to score against good competition, and he'll probably do better defending SGs than Holden would have if we didn't add an off-guard.

But I am concerned about our only lead guard options next season being true frosh Bruce Thornton aaand....?

Thats why I think out last spot will be a PG and not a big guy. But I kinda think Holtmann trusts Sueing in that lead point guard role.

Prediction
Even though he played 30 minutes per game two seasons ago and almost 34 minutes last season, he likely will not play that much as a Buckeye this upcoming season. Ohio State is deep and there are a lot of mouths to feed. It is also not a guarantee that he starts, but there is definitely a chance he starts at the two spot if they want to bring Bruce Thornton off the bench and put Likekele at the one to begin the year.

I expect him to play 25 minutes per game. Because of what he can do outside of shooting, even if he goes into a slump he can still be very valuable on the court, playing defense and helping set up the offense.

Regardless, McNeil is easily the best shooter on a team of fairly unproven shooters. They will need him to be pretty consistent to be able to strike fear in the hearts of the defenses and keep them honest. He was very consistent last season, shooting almost 37 percent on a high volume and he made at least one 3-pointer in 29 of his 32 games played.

2022-23 season bump

* 4 Sean McNeil, 6-4, 205, senior – McNeil, a native of Union, Ky., transferred in from West Virginia to use his “super senior” year at OSU. He is a veteran of 89 games (55 starts) in three years at WVU. Last year, he averaged 12.2 points and shot 37 percent on three-pointers.
