Shane "LLLL" Morris (Former ttun Backup QB, transfer to Central _ichigan)

Yep, unless they're comfortable moving Gardner back to QB after a year of playing WR, or turning it over to a marginally talented former low 3*, Russell Bellomy.
which they cannot afford to do because:

A) Gardner is a terrible passer and would force Hoke to delay the offensive transition year until year four of his regime, only to start over with another First year QB

B) Gardner is their only Michigan caliber athlete at split end, raw as he is. Their only Big time recruit at WR is Treadwell and that one is trending the wrong way imo.

If Morris thought it was tough playing high school defenses without enough weapons, try facing collegiate defenses stacking the box.

Sparty and OSU return almost their entire units on defense.

That is where you need a quarterback with the toughness, leadership and moxie to put his team on his back.

Well, at least he was able to practice for half a season against those decimating HS defenses that he has struggled so much against. I'm sure missing half his senior season with mono won't set him back at all as he prepares for the next level.

In other news besides the mono, it seems "The Situation" couldn't take the twitter heat.

Well, there are some disgustingly depraved at best, downright embarrassing at worst people that harass HS kids via twitter. Of course, some invite, or flat-out incite it more than others.

This reminds me of a former OSU recruit/player from Cincinnati who had all of the tools and was considered "the most NFL ready" player (or something along those lines) at the Elite 11 camp. However, the talent never really materialized into on the field results and production.

We shall see with young Mr. Morris, but this is not the first time a player of this talent and hype has not lived up to expectations.

Was going to post the same thought. The player you are referencing got high marks at every camp and had great arm strength. His performance in high school never came close to living up to the hype, and that remained the case at OSU.

I agree with most that high school production isn't the best indicator of college production, but I give it a little more weight at the QB position since QBs are in more control of their production relative to other positions (key word "relative" - I know they can still be on terrible teams that hurt their individual production just like other positions).

when he has time in the pocket he looks good, but his team is vastly undersized and the AD didn't do them any favors with the type of schools they've been playing. He needs a redshirt though to get physically ready for college ball.

I was curious, that seemed to be the case in Week 1. What many do not realize is no matter how good you are, you have to have some support cast to do well, even at the HS level. I was pretty solid and our QB was phenomenal in HS, yet we struggled to put up many points because our OL averaged about 170 lbs. That being said, I think Morris is slightly overrated and of course, I still despise him (I mean, he is a scUM QB recruit).

IIRC, beside replacing Denard, UM will have to replace their entire O-Line if Lewan leaves early.
They lose guys who should be easily replaced with good, young players .. and I doubt Lewan leaves.

Next year will be ineteresting, but I think Russell Bellomy can surprise some people.

Toussaint is also a potential departure.
I highly doubt he leaves.

Back on topic, I think Shane Morris will be more than fine. Nothing wrong with him getting a red-shirt.

Because that always goes smoothly, especially on the offensive line.

Just wait, you'll see.

If Michigan had another option at QB, he'd be starting, or at least worked in, instead of Deenads. Robinson will graduate and Shane Morris will not redshirt because there's no one else.

Here will be their likely starters next year:
Offense
QB - Shane Morris (Fr)
RB - Fitz Toussaint (Sr) if he decides to leave, then Thomas Rawls (Jr)
FB - Stephen Hopkins (Sr)
WR - Jerald Robinson (Jr)
WR - Jeremy Gallon (Sr) OR Drew Dileo (Sr)
TE - Devin Funchess (So)
LT - Taylor Lewan (Sr) if he decides to leave then Erik Magnuson (R-Fr.)
LG - Kyle Kalis (R-Fr)
C - Jack Miller (So)
RG - Joey Burzynski (Jr)
RT - Michael Schofield (Sr)

Defense
DE - Jibreel Black (Sr)
DT - Q. Washington (Sr)
DT - Ondre Pipkins (So)
DE - Frank Clark - (convicted felon, I mean Jr)
LB - Jake Ryan (Jr)
LB - Desmond Morgan (Jr)
LB - Joe Bolden or James Ross III (both So)
CB - Blake Countess (R-So assuming he gets his redshirt)
S - Marvin Robinson (Sr)
S - Thomas Gordan (Sr)
CB - Raymon Taylor (Jr)

I see a completely rebuilt offensive line with a freshman QB, overrated RB, and mediocre receivers. The one bright spot might be Funchess, but he can't carry an offense by himself.

On defense, I see a strong LB core sandwiching a weak secondary and even weaker line. Overall, I see maybe 7 or 8 wins... just like this year.

Elite 2013 Recruits Who Will Be Heisman Contenders During Their College Careers

Shane Morris, 5-Star QB (Michigan)

Shane Morris' chances of winning a Heisman will hinge on how good Michigan is while he's at the helm. He'll naturally get a ton of attention as the quarterback of the Wolverines, but if he can lead them to a few big, meaningful wins, the hype will be undeniable.
As far as his natural talent is concerned, Morris has it all. He has a powerful arm and throws a beautiful deep ball, but he'll also be precise on intermediate throws. He's also mobile and athletic enough to be effective moving outside of the pocket.

Morris really is the total package as a quarterback recruit, and he'll be a Heisman candidate before all is said and done.
