Sheryl Swoopes: I'm Gay

Why do people always assume someone isn't shallow if they're with someone ugly? It may just be that they can't do any better. The implication is that you are shallow if you're with someone attractive. My advice to Sheryl is that gay or not, she better get a little more shallow because that cow is heinous even by Sheryl Swoopes' standards. Oops, was that shallow? :)

First female wins slam dunk competition
Future Tennessee freshman follows footsteps of LeBron, Carter

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. - Candace Parker can dunk, too.

The 6-foot-3 senior from Naperville, Ill., dunked three times and beat five male competitors Monday night to become the first female winner of the slam dunk competition at the McDonald’s All-American boys and girls games.

Parker, who is headed to Tennessee next season, punctuated the competition with a one-handed jam while covering her eyes with her forearm.

The crowd roared, and seven of the eight judges gave her 10s. Parker finished with 223 points, well ahead of runner-up Joe Crawford, who had 148 points.

“I’ve been dunking the ball since I was 15,” she said. “I just wanted to get my first one down and knew I’d be all right.”

Parker is the second female participant in the dunk contest. Last year, Brittany Hunter, who now plays at Duke, competed but failed to dunk.

Previous winners of the dunk contest include Vince Carter, Baron Davis, Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James.

Parker is a two-time winner of the Naismith prep basketball player of the year award. She averaged 24.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.5 blocks and finished her high school career with 2,758 points.

I'd like to see just how bad those "male competitors" were.

That dunk contest was pathetic. all she did was jump up and put it through the rim. sometimes she would do something before she jumped but basically thats all it was. all the guys tried to do vince carter dunks and missed, but she still had no business winning because they would make their second attempts.

While gay bashing may be in vogue because of a country paranoid about non-white , non- evangelical life styles, I cannot nor will I EVER condone such behavior! I am embarrassed to see this crap on a site that is trying to take the high road in sports in general and fan forums in particular!

Gentleman and ladies, let spend our effort and time trying to take all threads to a higher quality level! I promise you all , I will!

Here is some interesting snippets from the article in the EsPiN rag.

On lesbians in the WNBA ...

Most of the players around the league already know I'm gay, and I do feel like there's a sisterhood among lesbian players. We know we're not going to get the support from a lot of other people. But the talk about the WNBA being full of lesbians is not true. I mean, there are as many straight women in the league as there are gay.

So that would mean HALF of the WNBA is sapphic.

Now where was the first guess in the pool?
Take a look at any of those "lady's" in the LPGA, WNBA, womens pro softball.... How many do you suppose are straight? If I was to guess I would say less than half. Thank god for tennis...

Looks like gregorylee nailed that one.

Funny thing is I remember when the WNBA started they were defensive about the topic of some players being gay. So, they launched a publicity campaign to reassure potential fans of the budding league that all was upright and straight in the WNBA.

One of the promo shots?

A pregnant Swoopes.

That's sad. If anything they would be better of embracing the gay community. I doubt any homophobes are going to be watching the WNBA anytime soon anyhow.
