All right, all right, all right.
You decide. Personally, I think he should, and I am disappointed he isnt. I would love to see how great he really could dunk, because we havent seen anything yet compared to what he could come up with on the floor without worrying about traveling or defenders. I also would like for him to represent for the Cavs... When you see highlights of Jordans career, how many times do they show those dunks in that contest? Everytime! Kobe, Carter, Jordan, and other all-time greats are known because of this, this is his chance to become the face of the NBA, but hes passing it up...

The dunk contest needs stars to make it relevant again, not the other way around. Lebron is already becoming the face of the NBA, at least he's the one that they want to be the face of the NBA. Dunks, in general, are more impressive when performed on a defender. I don't think the dunk contest is even mildly entertaining anymore, and I'd say that the dunks are much more spectacular now. Maybe I've been desensitized by watching what these guys can do in a game, that what they can do with no restrictions doesn't seem as impressive. I don't think that Lebron has to put on a show, if he doesn't feel that it's necessary. As for wanting him to represent the Cavs. I'm not a Cavs fan, but I certainly understand that aspect of your disappointment in his not participating.

Yes, I get sick of all these bums like Chris Anderson last year.

You would be better off tuning into a cavs game and watching to see better dunks than in the contest.

Hell the dunk last nite from the bucks game was better than some of the ones in the dunk contest.

is there someone you'd enjoy watching more in a dunk competition?
Yes
EDIT: Read that wrong...thought you said "Is there something I'd rather watch than a dunk contest".

I'm sure the dunk contest was the root of all of their success.

And im sure you need to learn how to read. Where the hell did I say that the dunk contest was what made them successful? Im saying they made a name for themselves. Kobe and them were all young when they first won the dunk competition, it helped them become fan favorites and NBA icons, before they started winning championships.

And for the "I dont care" option. If you didnt care then why the heck would you click on this thread? The question is the thread title, there are no hidden suprises or anything of that nature. If it doesnt appeal to you, then why did you click on the thread?

its just a dunk show and that doesnt make a player better.

Some stars use to be in those alot but, time has changed and anything Lebron wants to do is fine with me becauae, Stern is an idiot and tries to blow up whatever he can from any star player in the NBA to make more money.

The dunk contest was in its hay day back in the 80's and 70's. Today it doesnt mean anything. The three point contest is the best competition of the all star weekend. James is going to be in the skill competition though. I think i would rather have him in that than the slam dunk competition.

EDIT- The only reason i will watch is nate robinson 5" 9'.

I'm registered on an internet forum, and have 2,000+ posts on that internet forum, yet I can't read. lmao lol dat mks snce!

Kobe won the Dunk Contest in 1997. That same year he was on the All-Rookie team. The year before, he was the National Highschool Player of the Year. The year after, he made the All-Star team. He didn't need a meaningless All-Star Weekend "competition" to make a name for himself. Neither did Vince Carter, Dr. J, Michael Jordan, or Dominique Wilkins - and neither does LeBron.
