Honestly, what's the big deal? The dunk contest has been irrelevant for almost fifteen years. Even when Vince Carter was winning them, they were boring. If LeBron wants to, then go ahead. If he doesn't want to, don't. I'm not too sure where it's written that he has to compete. He'll take part in the skill competition. He'll take part in the All-Star game. That's two events he's going to be in during All-Star Weekend. He's improved his three-point shooting tremendously this year, I guess he should be in the three-point contest as well, right?

Lebron's little secret is that he's just not all that creative with his dunks. The ones that make your jaw drop during the games would be lame in a contest. And I'm pretty sure that's all he's got.

Maybe. Maybe not. I've heard other reporters say the same argument, and it's an argument that holds water. It's not like he pulls of a 360 now and again. And if that's the case, then it's another reason why he shouldn't do the contest if he doesn't want to.

Nah. He doesn't need to participate.

The dunk contest needs something novel to be even remotely interesting. Maybe if it were a contest between mascots off trampolines, I would watch.

Lower the rims to 7 foot and have the cheerleaders compete and I might watch.

The slam dunk contest isn't for guys like MJ, Kobe, VC and LBJ to make names for themselves, it's for guys like Josh Smith and Nate Robinson to make themselves known.

As a fan, I would love to see Lebron in the dunk contest, but from his stand point and Im sure the cav's had smeting to say in it, that if Lebron gets hurt dunking in a worthless contest and misses the rest if the year, The Cavs can wait another year for the playoff's.

So why take the chance...it's not like LeBron has anything to prove.
