26) Cincinnati Bengals
Kevin Jones would work out well here. Cincinnati had him targeted all along and got a sweetner from St. Louis to end up getting their guy. Interestingly enough, Cincy is taking a long time to make this pick. … Did Corey Chavous go to the Bell Biv Devoe store for his shoes?
Selection: RB Chris Perry, Michigan
Well O.K. That’s a nice pick, but he’s not the speed back that Jones is. Once again, non-Ohio State Big Ten backs don’t work out in the NFL. Perry can catch and is ready to be a number two back. … Kiper: “Is he going to be a big-time featured back? No.” If you’re taking a player at the 26, he’d better be a big-time featured player. Take the “nice additions” in the third and fourth round.

Mike Alstott would beg to differ
Alstott:

112 games 1198 carries 4607 yds 3.8 yds/carry 41.1 yds/game 47(10 career high) 230 rec 1775 yds 7.7 yds/catch 2.1 catches/game 12 TDs

That is a great career?

He is good for an occasional highlight, but he has not torn up the league.

No. the criteria was whether a non-big 10 running back can "work". Alstott did. Now, if Sherry has the same career as Alstott, he will have been a disappointment. But this guy wasn't talking about fullbacks I imagine.

I'm not sure if Bennett is supposed to be completely healthy this year.
