Showing the Colors Here in North Carolina

HineyBuck

Old newb
To paraphrase a certain ambiguously heroic war veteran, "My name is HineyBuck and I'm reporting for duty."

Teaching here at Appalachian State, where many of our students come from the Raleigh area and many others are major WolfPack fans, I take it as my duty to hoist the Buckeye flag. So, for the rest of the week, I'm wearing my Scarlet Jim Tressel sweatervest, Gray slacks, and my Scarlet Block O ballcap to school. I urge other North Carolina Planeteers to wear similar attire to work.

Some of my students want to talk smack. But I figure, from the heart of enemy territory, the better part of valor is to take the Lou Holtz approach ("Gosh, those guys are so good, it'll be a privilege just to be on the same field with them. I just hope our youngsters can put up a good fight.").

Doing my part for the Buckeye Nation.

In solidarity--HineyBuck

I've begun wearing my Buckeye attire to work as well and the flag is flying outside my house as it does most of football season, but I think I'll change to the scarlet-on-black flag this week to distinguish it more from NC St.

I work with a lot of NC St. alumni and fans, but for the most part they have been civil. If they talk too much trash I can always play the, "gosh I hope I don't get shot at your tailgate!" card, but so far they've been pretty realistic.
