SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

Remember when Chubba The Weis had a decided schematic advantage? Nor do I.

I DO remember him coaching his Kansas team on the fundamentals of how to celebrate a victory. As if THAT would somehow prepare them to actually win. This guy made untold millions because of the Patriot war machine. This guy is the living embodiment of the American Dream-even a guy who cannot control his eating habits, is an insufferable egomaniac, and isn’t particularly great at his job can make a fortune. Well done Chubbles. Well. Done.
My favorite part of the Weis story is that he was successful at New England at least partially to (what is more likely) largely due to the fact that they were cheating their asses off while he was there- stealing practice tape, stealing defensive signals, and who knows what else.

Turns out, creating a decided schematic advantage is more difficult when you’re not illegally stealing things from the other team.

More than a few former New England coaches have suffered from a similar drop off once they left for their own coaching gig. It doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me.

And back to Harbaugh, I’d really like them to highlight exactly what time period they consider Harbaugh’s golden years they want him to revert back to- his first two years in San Francisco? His first spring and summer in Ann Arbor before he coached his first game?

He got lucky at Stanford having Shaw who was clearly a better coach. Things went to shit at San Fran and he burnt bridges.
Now he's got to deal with Dantonio, Franklin and Meyer every year and he's hit his ceiling. Can his ego handle it?

Can his ego handle it?

No.

Of all the opinions and theories I post here I rarely state things as fact. I am stating this as a fact.

His ego cannot handle it.

My opinion is that he will eventually just snap and go slingblade on someone. TSUN will have to put him out to a premature pasture.

MICHIGAN JUST SIGNED A RECRUITING CLASS THAT MAKES MOST WOLVERINE FANS CRINGE, SO LET'S HELP THEM OUT

2. MAYBE HARBAUGH ISN'T FUN WEIRD, AND IS ACTUALLY WEIRD WEIRD

Keep him away from recruiting, is what I'm getting at here. There have been rumors tossed around that he's been doing that voluntarily, but let's operate under the assumption that Harbaugh is fully engaged in recruiting and is as weird as ever.

Maybe there's a tipping point with that. You know the kid in class who would do stuff like drink milk through his nose or flip his eyelids and touch his eyeballs? And then you'd laugh the first day, and maybe the second, but by the eighth and ninth day straight of this you start finding a different place to eat lunch? That's Jim Harbaugh.

Jim Harbaugh works better in the abstract, or as a meme. Having extended contact with him and inviting him over for recruiting pitches and dinners and the like starts to seem like bad parenting at a certain point. Throw Don Brown in there and hope for the best instead.

I'll add to this. His Aspergers combined with his massive ego makes it such that he is only comfortable with a certain level of assistant coach, one that he doesn't deem to be a threat to him in any capacity, as harbaugh has to be the smartest guy in the room at all times. he couldn't handle ceding any sort of responsibility or authority to anyone else. as such, they will never hire any young innovative coaches that may burn up the recruiting trail or move their offense into modern times. quite frankly, they are lucky they have don brown to keep them competitive defensively. without him, they'd be a full-on dumpster fire rather than the flaming bag of shit left on your porch they are now.

I've long maintained that, if he stays long enough, he'll flameout in a spectacular and public incident.
