I have free colocation at a facility of the highest quality, so that's not an issue. We're simply going to have to get a more powerful server at some point. The one we're on (cinnamon.bryants.net) was built to serve solely as a database server for a business that was going back in 2000-2001 or so. When the company folded, I got one of the machines it owned as a parting gift, and that's what we're on now. What we're going to need is a box with 4gb ram minimally, ideally 8gb, scsi drives in a raid-5 configuration (this box is using 15k rpm 18gb Seagate Cheetahs), and either a high speed single processor, or medium-high speed duals.
Anyway, it's a bridge to cross in the future. The machine and site should be fine for now. The problems were corrected, and we shouldn't face the exact same issue for some time as steps were taken to prevent that specific failure. I'll think about the PayPal issue, it's not something I can handle right now anyway without my laptop, but maybe we'll tuck away a button somewhere for 'off-season' donations.
I do appreciate everyone's sentiments, interest and suggestions though.
BTW, if you emailed me through the site, or at any address besides buckeyeplanet(at)gmail(dot)com, in the last few weeks, I haven't received it yet, and won't until my laptop returns from repair. The gmail address is good for the time being. I'm only checking it every 2-3 days or so, but I can be reached there.
I have no firm ETA for when I'll be back online regularly. Every time we think we've resolved one part of our problems here, 3 new ones pop up. And everything is slowed by the mess the 4 hurricanes that hit FL. Needless to say, insurance companies and repair/estimate places are sloooooow right now.
