Skill Position Replacements - 2005

Morty

Rookie
Thought it was interesting that even though we don't have the largest recruiting class we still have done a good job of filling in the skill positions where the seniors left.

Players Leaving/2005 Recruits

QB- (None) / Schoenhoft

RB- Ross, Hall / Wells

FB- Joe / (None)

WR- Childress, Hollins / Amos, Hartline

OL- Kne / Boone, Cordle

DE- Fraser, Caldwell / Worthington, Williams

DL- (None) / Denlinger

LB- Matthews / Spitler, Laurinaitis

CB- Fox, Jacobs / O’Neal, Jenkins

Other Recruits- Lenix, Russell

If either Lenix or Rusell becomes a RB we will have replaced each skill position senior except Branden Joe at FB. There are obviously some talented recruits that would help the team, however since we have replaced the outgoing players there is no reason to reach and take a recruit because we need an extra body. I have a feeling this might have something to do with why the coaching staff is focusing on only a few players.

Balancing out the classes...

Morty, can someone with more knowledge than I balance out the estimated graduating years of 2004 and 2005. Taking into account the talent that we red-shirted this past season (Person, Mitchum, Haw etc...) along with the possible true Freshman to play in 2005 (O'Neil, Boone, Worthington etc..). Can anyone with time on their hands take a stab, this is quite possibly why we don't need to be overly aggressive this year. Combine these two teams that will graduate in 2008 and the supposive talent we have next year, I don't see us falling off when the classes combine. Any takers?

buckhunter,

Please refer to the sticky thread by Oh8ch called 'Scholarship Breakdown by Poistion and Recruiting Class'. It shows positions by class year, and indicates how many schollies are in each class.
