Smith pays Clarett's cell phone bill

I thought the Smith thing was not connected to MoC, but it appears to be. How deep does this stuff run?

The more it runs to MoC, the less deep it runs... most likely. (Did I just imply that MoC was shallow? Oops.)

Obviously, we don't know or sure... but that's my feeling.

Smith gets his mom to get MoC a cell phone. My question: how was that cell phone paid for? Did Smith's mom pay for it (I thought the Smith family did not have a lot of money)?

I imagine the grift here was, "Troy, I need a cell phone but Verizon says I don't have any credit... and my Mom just had her couches reposessed by Rent-a-Center, I just need to get a phone, I'll pay for it."

Sounds a lot like, "Man, my car just broke down and I'm trying to get to my daughters birthday, can I get 10 bucks from you"

Did you fall for that too? I thought I was the only one MoC ran that scam on!

Wait, I just thought of a better analogy than cancer...

MoC is like tOSU's ex-wife!
  • He keeps coming back to get more money.
  • He's bitter and vindictive.
  • He drags our name through the mud to anyone who will listen.
  • He's totally obsessed with us, yet claims to hate us.
  • Every now and then he comes back like nothing ever happened just trying to get some love.
  • Any love we once had for him is gone now that we've seen what a scary little bitch he really is.
  • Any communication with him now is usually through our lawyers.
  • Nothing that went wrong was ever his fault.
  • Somehow everyone believes his side of the story even though he's clearly crazy.
  • He cheated, yet we're the one's paying through the nose for our time with him.

This is not good. Smith gets his mom to get MoC a cell phone. My question: how was that cell phone paid for? Did Smith's mom pay for it (I thought the Smith family did not have a lot of money)? Did someone give Smith's mom money to pay for it? Did MoC give her money to pay for it? Did someone give MoC money to pay for it? It looks like this may not be going away any time soon.

Remember, Geiger looked shocked when he learned of this and then stated that it lent credence to MoC's claims. This absolutely gives ESPN ammunition. I thought the Smith thing was not connected to MoC, but it appears to be. How deep does this stuff run?
Now you don't have to have any money to get a cell. All you have to do is sign a new contract with the service provider and most of the time the phone is free or pretty damn cheap. Plus with all of the mail in rebates, instant rebates, etc. it's not hard to get a phone with little or no money up front.

I'm hoping there's really nothing new to this, other than the tie-in to MoC. Of course, they'll probably have to investigate the calls that were made. But MoC was off the team (thank God) at the time, so I don't believe that calls he made to agents and whatever will hurt tOSU.

Why couldn't the fool have gotten Alan Milstein to pay for his cell phone? Or take out a bank loan based on the possibility of his becoming a 2nd or 3rd round draft choice, which it appeared he would be from early February to mid-April 2004.

And just like a wife/ex wife, you relly don't know what you're in for until the commitment is finalized.

Son to Dad: Dad I heard that in some countries, a man never knows his wife until they are married.

Dad to Son: Its like that in every country, son.

The question is not only who paid for the initial purchase of the phone and/or cell service, but who paid for the ongoing monthly service? Perhaps there was only one month and that was it. But what if there were six months of service? This could result in serious problems for Troy Smith and Ohio State.

wtf is wrong with people? do they not grasp how credit works? i won't even sign on the dotted line for people i sleep with! yet these people seem to jump at the opportunity to sign for people who are unemployeed...? please sir... put down teh craq pipe!

actually with MoC in the mix i think that helps us more than it hurts. MoC is about the single most self destructive person i have ever seen in my life. primarily because everyone else as self destructive hasn't survived as long as he has. i think people in general will be happier pinning this on MoC than on ts or anyone else.

I really dont see how that would really matter...
At that time, MoC was no longer on the team, so I dont see how the actual bill matters...
What matters, is that TS took the money, its just ironic as to the reason he took it.

Evidently if Troy had to use the money that Mr. Baker gave him to pay the bill then no one previously paid it (at least that would be my guess), or maybe MoC paid for a couple months and figured "the hell with it... it's not in my name" which sounds like something that fucker would think

we are talking about the bill and how the phone came to be because a previous poster stated that they thought the Smith family didn't have much money and didn't understand how a phone would be purchased if there were limited family income

Thats what the booster money was for, at least some of it.
I just think what he used the $$ for is irrelevant.
