Its the blessing and curse of being a Buckeye fan but step back and think if you grew up in Iowa and were a fan of the Hawkeyes or grew up in Illinois where I live now. They consider the fans of tOSU as insufferable because we criticize a 10 win team. They think we are complaining about our 1st world problems when the rest of college football would like just a taste of our success,
I think it was about 30 years ago at a party I told a Hawkeye fan to get over himself and go crawl back in his hole. They had one good year and the guy was all uppity.....

This. Get over yourself. There are rules here. Follow them or leave. I’m tired of the borderline Buckeye bashing.
I don`t think @bukIpower has bashed anyone. Does he voice an opinion, as crazy as they may be sometimes, sure. At the same time he brings some good stuff to the table as a former player. We've definitely got some great posters on this site, but I've seen worse posters on this site. I just ignore them, you can too.

As a life long wrestling fan, this reminds me of a classic heel turn.

Always learning something new on BP.

At first, I imagined a "heel turn" was some kind of spin move in the ring. (Can you tell I don't watch much rasslin?)

But, I think I get it: Hulk was a bad guy to start with, right? And, then the story line was that he evolved into a hero?

It just has to make sense.

Crap.
Now I have to stop posting. :sad2:

Hogan was the biggest drawing ($$) good guy in the history of the business in the 80s. In the mid 90s he became a bad guy-turning heel-and everyone was shocked.

Well, there is a culture here. It's not about me, you, or him. We make our points. Others accept them or reject them. If we are typing opinions late at night onto a fan page because others just don't understand our brilliant insights, we're doing it wrong.

Who gives a flying Mark May if people disagree with us? Is any website really worth more than a week of introspection about some posting while under the influence? Life is too short and, quite frankly, nobody gives a Harbaugh.

bukIpower is not the first guy to drink a bit too much and post something he regretted. Hell, that was my personal MO in relationships until the 2nd year at Ohio State.

The point is that this BP culture exists because some really cool people wanted to move away from the game thread whining, player and coach bashing, and inappropriate behavior on the other sites back then. And they made it a reality, taking financial risks to do it.

At the end of the day, we are discussing college kids. Their parents often are active participants here. Many former players and coaches post on this site.

So, nobody is telling anyone that they can't post an opinion within the rules of this site.

Instead, what I am reading is that one offers an opinion and moves on, remembering that college kids are kids, don't owe you anything, they and their families deserve respect not ridicule, and the person with whom you disagree might be an insider that knows one hell of a lot more about the kid, the coach, the practice this week, or the game in general than you do, even if you are a former coach or player.

Part of the BP culture is to treat others as you might wish to be treated. Respect them with the understanding that, if you lived their lives, you might well think and act the same way that they do.

If we think we see something and nobody agrees, then we have an opportunity to either rethink our opinions or forgive their lack of insight and let it go. There just isn't any reason to be ruminating about it for more than a moment and certainly not for more than a week.

I've never had a problem with him at all. And I'm far from what anybody would consider a "sunshine pumper." What sticks in my craw as a fan is when I see people complaining that we're not 'bama. It's an argument that just drives me nuts and one of the, well many, issues I have with our fan base. Tressel once said something to the effect of we're the most spoiled/miserable fan base in sports, and I totally agree.

Oh, OK.. So a "heel turn" is always the other direction, from hero to villain? I mostly just remember the Hulk from Rocky III--he was kinda half&half at that point.

Awesome stuff Steve. I agree wholeheartedly.

I just don't want BP to get to a point where folks are afraid, within reason, to voice an opinion, because they will be consistently shouted down. When we descend into pettiness and bickering and open debate and conversation are non existent, then we have truly lost.

Personally, I have taken my own hiatus from BP (I know no one even knew I was gone when I did it ), as have others and come back to enjoy what is the BEST Buckeye site on the interwebs. I appreciate Clarity, our Mods, and the overwhelming majority of posters on the site.

Go Bucks!
