Source: Knight Would Listen to Ohio State Offer

I am rapidly moving away from my initial opposition to Knight, but if he is hired I hope we can find enough porters to help with all his baggage.

I was reminded again this morning that he was fired at IU by the very man who heads the organization that will be investigating OSU and determing our sanctions.

I don't understand your concern here Oh8ch, he has never run a dirty program and has not had any run-ins with the NCAA on that type of level. He was fired from IU for supposedly being too harsh with some kids. Was he too harsh? Not my call. I would say these kids have shown that they need someone to be on their ass. These kids cannot have the kind of freedom that they have currently. Before anyone jumps on my case about "Its not the Head Coaches job to babysit these kids". I know that. But if Bobby Knight was your Head Coach and you knew you had to deal with him if you screwd up, you may think again about having the extra beer and going out on the town. Just my thought. I would just love to see the Basketball program climb to the top of the sport. It would help recruiting all around. Kids coming up to see the school and catching a top calibur basketball team and the rabid crowd, I am sure would help land a few more big names from out of state.

Generally I agree SnG, BUT Bobby isn't just overly harsh with his players. His baggage includes students, secretaries, coaching staff, administrators, media and law enforcement officers. I'm about 50/50 on Bobby Knight right now. There is NO question on the basketball side of the issue ... Coach Knight would be tremendous. It's the media circus that would pitch a tent in Columbus that has me a bit worried. After the past 18 months I'm not sure about the risk/reward equation. If you think the media has placed an undue focus on OSU lately, just wait until Bobby comes to town.

All my concerns aside, I think Bobby Knight really has a love and passion for OSU. It could be the best thing to happen to OSU basketball, or ...

If Oh8ch is saying the same thing that you are 3yards then I would understand. The media circus would be something to fear. However, OSU has and will continue to be in the media spotlight. Having Bobby Knight here would just give them a few more articles to write on. I say lets give him a shot and make the best out of the bad situation with OB. I thought Oh8ch was saying that by bringing in Knight, we would be asking for sanctions to be levied against the basketball. I think Knight would run a clean program here. I also think he would bring the attitude of "I will not put up with any crap".

I don't think this will happen anyways, but it is fun to discuss the posibility.

Was he too harsh?

That shouldn't even be ask. When I saw Him grab the kid around the neck at the IU practice, I decided then that BK had lost his perspective and needed to remove himself or be fired. I had always said that I'd send my boy to him in a heartbeat to play basketball. That just isn't true any longer. I still view him as a time bomb.
While he most likely would bring OSU a winning program, I am unsure how I feel about it. I tend to believe it's not what I'd do.
I would be shocked if the AG attempts to bring him here. I think he'll be too gunshy after the past year to even consider it.
