I don't thing USC is overrated, but I do think VT played a lot better than anyone expected. You have to give USC a little credit for coming to the east coast for the first game of the year.....but then again nah....

its early to make decisions, it takes 2 or 3 games to sort out what you have, unfortunately usc doesnt play anybody (the pac 10 is weak), they didnt click and its early so i will refrain judgement. But to back up what i saw earlier in the thread the refs are peteys #1 guy

Randall lost his legs. he couldn't run as fast or pass as well. Now I see why they were bringing in Vick late in the game last year. If that Qb could have man a couple easy throws late they would have had a chance. And the option was getting way too predictable.

DID ANYONE WATCH THIS GAME...HOLY SHIT...I MUST HAVE BEEN THE ONLY ONE.

VT might finish 7-8 in the BIG 10. Their receivers, running backs, and defensive backs are average at best. They are half as good as they were last year. Randall has good feet but he missed wide open receivers.

If USC would have played LSU, MIAMI, FL ST., GEORGIA ETC. THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN SAND POUNDED IN THEIR ASSES.

The officiating was horrible I hope some of those officials lose their jobs or get suspended!!!!

VT defensive backs(cb's and safeties) couldn't even be in our 2 deep.

I know it's the first game but they didn't impress me at all. A team with a better o-line and running back could have run all over USC.

BUSH is good but if Ted Ginn was that open and you threw him the ball he would have been as good or better.

IMO SC has been exposed. Their defensive backs don't impress me at all. When they face better receivers and better passing Qb's in the PAC-10 they will get scorched. IMO their are alot of PAC-10 fans smiling right now.

USC is not a top 5 team. Too bad they play a cupcake schedule.

It's hard for USC not to be overrated, considering they are #1, but that clearly wasn't the best team in college football, and it's pretty easy to say that without seeing any others. They may be the best by the end of the year, but they certainly aren't now. VTU played well, and I don't think they'd be 8th in the Big 10, but they could still end up 7th in the ACC.

I would refrain from saying we have a bunch of guys as good as Bush though...we'd take him in a heartbeat. That said, I didn't see anyone on their D that I would really trade for at this point.

i think it had more to do with USC's answer to his scrambling.

no offense.....but youre crazy. its the first game of the season and they had some question marks......but to say they are exposed? doubt it. the only thing exposed was the leader in the heisman voting. reggie bush is amazing when he gets the ball in his hands.

Nah, had USC scraped out a win and looked like crap doing it, then we could credit the refs. But VaTech has no answer for Reggie Bush. Looks like they've never defended the deep ball before, and worse, they're making the mistake of putting safeties on Steve Smith and Reggie Bush.

There were some horrible calls that changed the tone of this game. Each of those that impacted the momentum of the game went against VaTech.

But USC is going to win this because they're too much team for the Hokies. Not downing VaTech, obviously they've made it closer than 90% of the experts believed they would -- but Reggie Bush is the difference.

Very true USC is the better team but that PI call changed the momentum. IMO if that wasn't called VaTech probably scores 7 points and puts USC down by 10. A big defecate for someone that is used to blowing everyone out.

If that PI wasnt called then USC might have still won the game but who knows.

USC, Nation. VaTech had a couple of good guys back there that made some nice plays. SC did pressure the QB in the second half, but they were pretty inconsistent, and the TEs were always open, a bad sign for the middle of a defense.

It's too bad the PI call got in the way of a good game, but VaTech has gotten the benefit of calls for years, especially at home, so Beamer can't whine too much (though he probably will anyway  ).

"A big defecate for someone that is used to blowing everyone out. "...Yeah, they would have been in the shitter alright... :tongue2:
