Still can’t comprehend what happened today.
Fully armed and operational.

The talent up and down this offensive lineup is unreal. We all talk about the unrealized potential of that 2015 offense, well…this group is just as talented, if not more and they’re showing it. I’m not sure there’s ever been a more lethal group of WRs in CFB history. We have 3 legit WR1s and a lot of young talent behind them. I’ve said it a number of times…throw all the money at Hartline and do whatever it takes to keep him here.

Michigan State 2021

1. Well, this week was what last week should have been, a curb stomping from start to finish except for a minor speed bump early on. Up 14-0 with 8:03 left in the first quarter after TD passes from C.J. Stroud to Chris Olave (23 yards) and Garrett Wilson (77 yards), the Buckeye defense did what they do best - allow the opposition to convert 3rd-and-longs. First a 3rd-and-14, then a 3rd-and-9, followed by a 2nd-and-12 (the Buckeye defense doesn't always wait until 3rd down to fold their tent). In the midst of an impressive drive and facing 3rd-and-10 at the Ohio State 29-yard line, Sparty apparently completed a pass for an apparent first down followed by an apparent fumble by the receiver that was apparently recovered by Ohio State. But appearances can be deceiving, especially for Big Ten replay officials who in this instance decided that the pass was actually incomplete, which according to my indisputable video evidence was the least accurate call possible. Perhaps the replay officials were splitting the baby in half - not awarding the Spartans a first down, not awarding the Buckeyes the ball. In any event, Sparty kept possession and on 4th-and-10 missed the 46-yard field goal. Four plays and 84 seconds later, Ohio State was up 21-0 and the rout was on: 49-zip at halftime, 56-7 at the final gun.

2. In a CFB tradition like no other, most SEC teams reserve Week 11 for a G5 or FCS patsy, a de facto bye week prior to the regular season ending rivalry game. This year, CFB fans got to see such exciting contests as Georgia vs Charleston Southern (56-7); Texas A+M vs Prairie View (52-3); Mississippi State vs Tennessee State (55-10); Kentucky vs New Mexico State (56-16); and Tennessee vs South Alabama (60-14). Ohio State played #7 Michigan State and thumped them 56-7. Would an FCS team have given the Buckeyes a more challenging game?

3. Where was this C.J. Stroud two weeks ago against Nebraska? In that game, Stroud needed the full 60 minutes and 54 pass attempts to amass 405 yards and 26 points. Today, Stroud had 393 yards passing (on 31 attempts) and put 49 points on the scoreboard in the first half alone. After a meaningless drive to start the 3rd quarter, Stroud exited the game having completed 32 of 35 passes (.914) for 432 yards and tying the school record with 6 TDs.

4. Ohio State's Earth (Jaxon Smith-Njigba), Wind (Chris Olave), and Fire (Garrett Wilson) were nearly equal beneficiaries of Stroud's largesse as each member of the trio eclipsed the century mark for second time this season (also against Oregon in Week 2). JSN had 10 receptions for 105 yards and a TD; Wilson had 7 receptions for 126 yards and 2 TDs; and Olave had 7 receptions for 140 yards and 2 TDs, with his second score setting the Buckeye record for career touchdowns receptions (35, breaking David Boston's record set from 1996-98).

5. Despite all the passing yardage, the Buckeyes still managed to generate 206 yards on the ground. With the contest decided early, TreVeyon Henderson had only 9 carries for 63 yards before being relieved first by Miyan Williams (4 carries, 35 yards, TD), then by Master Teague, who also nearly broke the century mark in his Senior Day performance (21 carries, 95 yards, TD).

6. As mentioned above, the defense went soft for a few minutes midway through the first quarter, but played excellent most of the rest of the game. The defense forced one turnover (a fumble recovery that quickly led to seven Buckeye points); racked up 9 TFLs (with two of those being sacks) and 11 PBUs (with five of those being batted passes); forced Michigan State to punt 9 times; and held Sparty to just 224 total yards (3.8 yards per play), and Heisman hopeful Kenneth Walker III to just 25 yards on 6 carries. The defense was even solid on 3rd downs overall, as Sparty converted only 5 of 16 (.313) for the game.

7. One of the few negatives was Noah Ruggles missing his first kick of the year, a 38-yard field goal attempt that sailed wide right.

8. It's officially Michigan Week. 'Nuff said.
