The Big Ten opener is Game #5, which looks to be the last game before the group of suspended players return to the field.

It's been quite the progression for the kid from Westerville, Ohio, just outside Columbus.

Michigan State was the only Big Ten school to offer Cunningham a scholarship out of high school, and he jumped at it, even if it wasn't for the team he grew up watching.

"I used to be a Buckeyes fan back in the day," he said. "I used to watch Ted Ginn and those guys, so of course, I wanted to be a Buckeye. Not anymore."

What he is focused on now is getting a chance at avenging a 38-point loss at home to Ohio State in 2008. It would go a long way toward quieting his friends back home, especially the ones that think he goes to Michigan.

"I'm a senior and I've never played at the horseshoe before," Cunningham said of the Oct. 1 matchup at Ohio State. "I've got a lot of friends on that team, a lot of friends that go to Ohio State. My whole high school probably goes to Ohio State."

And if Cunningham does arrive in Columbus for the Big Ten opener as Michigan State's career leading receiver, odds are most people in the stadium won't care.

But you won't hear Cunningham complain.

"This year we feel like we've got a lot to prove," Cunningham said. "They feel like they are better than us. We're coming back with a good team, so we're ready to just go out and ball."

And doing it with the program's best receiver will be a boost, even if he isn't the hometown hero.

When will this gametime be announced? I might try and make it up for this one. Hang around at some bars and watch the UGA/Miss State game on ESPN at some bars later that night.

Likelihood is that this will be a 330 kick. First Big Ten game. 2 of the contenders for each division. Just too big to be a nooner. I see Akron, Toledo, Indiana, scUM, and maybe Purdue and Colorado as 12 kicks. Then you have Miami, Nebraska, and wisky late. Leaving the other 3-4 as 330s.

Probably announced by 16-19 in sept.

Gotcha.
Alabama's at Florida this week, so CBS will gobble up that game as the Game of the Week for 3:30pm kickoff.

Bulldawgs vs. Bulldogs almost assured a 5:30 or 7:30 kick.

Sparty fans have been very confident all summer long that this will be an easy win for them by their coments on the radio up here around the detroit metro area. Even with the 4 on the side line I'm sure we will match up well with them..they are in for a surprise I think.

Since 1965, their only win by more than 10 points was 1999, by a score of 23-7, and that was at East Lansing. In fact, of their seven all-time wins in The Shoe, only one has been by double digits (28-13 in 1953). So, excuse me for being just a tad skeptical...
