Sparty takes on Kentucky

you are the only one who is stumping on an opinion that was proven incorrect....the 5 milllion replays of the shot you said sparks had his foot on the line....

you are the one who doesnt know his own ass from a hole in the ground...

Hey, I'm not whining about the refs. I was glued to my seat. You won't see me posting around here during a game like that.

Patrick Sparks is a freakin' folk legend now, even though they lost. That shot will put him up there with Macy and Farmer.

I think it was a decently officiated game. I've seen better, but I've seen many, many worse. Kentucky didn't lose because of refs or anything - they lost because they failed to defend the perimeter in the second half, and with just a few exceptions, Azubuike was invisible. Kaz is extremely talented, and he's too talented to not be able take over that game. He's the only one on that team with the ability to create his own shot at any spot on the floor - when he wants to.

Hats off to the Spartans. They played a great game. Tom Izzo is one of the best coaches in the country, and I have nothing but respect for him. Good luck to them against the TarHoles. I'll be rooting for them.

I was yelling his foot was on the line before the refs even decided to review it.
After seeing the clearly non-definitive replays, I still say that was a 2.
Either way, what a great game, and go Big 10.

Did Sparks get hit on the arm? Yes.

Were they ever in a million years going to make that call? No.

Why not? For the same reason they were never in a million years going to call that shot a two instead of a three. The refs don't want to put the outcome in their own hands like that.

Is that right or wrong? Beats the fuck out of me!

"Two Big Ten teams in the Final Four, and my North Carolina-Illinois title game looks better all the time."
--------------

I have Carolina/lllinois in the Title Game as well. Though I do have Carolina winning it....3 out of my Final 4 were correct (Illinois/UNC/Louisville). For what its worth Im a HUGE Kentucy bball fan and had them beating MSU (even called the MSU/Duke upset since 'Selecton Sunday') and yet I knew even if his foot was barely hitting the line, it wouldnt be called or else the rest of MSUs games would be tainted (as would the Final 4).

I'm impressed with your restraint on an issue that is so close to you (being a UK fan). My opinion on the play is that the referees swallowed the whistle at the end of regulation (not at all uncommon) and that the foul MAY have very well ensured that the outcome resulted in a three point basket. I don't know if it was a three or not but it was the right call because I think that, for the integrity of the game, the refs HAD to let the teams decide the game in overtime.

Right or not, officials want to give the teams every chance to decide the game. I agree Sparks was hit and had he missed the shot, or had it been counted as a two...I would've been mad about the injustice. As it is, if I was a Kentucky fan, I'd be more angry about not getting a shot off at the end of the first overtime.

That game didn't need to be decided by a "pussy hair" whether it be a sneaker or a touch. It ended the way it needed to end, by letting the kids play the game. What a great weekend of college hoops. I basically have no interest in who wins or loses in this thing, yet was completely glued to the screen for the past 4 days. People can say what they want to about what the greatest annual sporting event is, but at least for the year 2005 NOTHING will top "March Madness." Congrats to the final-4 teams and all those that competed this weekend, it was a great show.
