Sparty vs. Ohio State, Sunday, 4:30 PM, CBS

i wouldn't be so certain about that. last year's team got blown out in only one game: wisconsin. and then they gave that same wisconsin team a double-digit loss when everyone and his brother was expecting a poor turnout from the bucks. the frustrating thing about last season was not that we were thoroughly out-played. it was that we played to the level of our competition -- good or bad -- and didn't close out games. i mean, 12 of the 18 regular season conference games were decided by no more than 6 points. of the 12 losses to conference teams, 10 were decided by no more than 10 points.
I doubt it Matta had lost the “juice” either from health or recruits who never came around “Amir”.,he gave off the vibe he was done. We needed a new vibe. Matta should be praised for all he accomplished it just reached its expiration date.

In the second half did anyone else catch when Kam Williams got called for a bs foul and his response was a high pitched hyenia laugh? This is the first complete game I've caught this season and it's sure as hell nice to see that the juice is back. I liked Raftery's nickname of El Jefe for KBD as well.

Thad didn't leave the cupboards bare.

Bare? Not totally. He left some talented pieces that just needed to be "coached up." However, there are obvious holes on the roster...particularly when it comes to depth. Make no mistake, Holtmann has taken some lemons, and made lemonade. This team is playing far above expectations. My only concern going forward is that the lack of depth will start to catch up to them as the grind of the season wears on come February. But, there's no way to look at their performance thus far as anything but a positive.

KBD has been one of the breakout players in CBB this year. The talent has always been there, now it appears the light has gone on.

I think Holtmann has put in place a culture and offense that has enabled the players he has to be better basketball players. I said for two years the problem was the culture and effort level. When you see guys loaf during games, what must they do at practice and on their own in the gym?

Not to mention the same BS offense we ran for six years was past stale. I love watching Holtmanns offenses, because we have several and they are way different than each other and way more effective at getting good looks. Good looks make guys better shooters.

I just hate to say it but if the old regime were running things, we lose by 15 today.
To be honest before the game I thought that Sparty was going to win by at least 15 and I would had been satisfied. I do not want to too carried away with this victory and say that Ohio State basketball is back but at least I know that we are headed in the right direction. Maybe not this season but a few seasons down the road. When I say back, I mean NCAA championship back.

I guess you do not watch much Ohio State basketball but Kam does that quite often and it is not only after he commits a "bs" foul. He does that quite frequently after making a 3 point shot or if one of his teammates makes a really good play. He really is into the game even when he is on the bench.

My favorite play of him yesterday was that back cut and he showed his athleticism with that one-handed stuff.
