Wilson's success is well noted, with guys like Zander Diamant. Naturally he's a huge upgrade over the hodge podge constructed to keep Ed on staff. That would be enough reason to dance in the streets.

The huge bonus is that Wilson is at worst a comparable offensive mind if not better than Meyer. Urban will undoubtedly call some shots and remain the king, but overall he can stop micromanaging. Let's just hope Kevin earns Urban's sooner than later. Even Tom Herman took years, and in the process we saw Hyde not get either touch from 2 yards out vs Sparty.

I have no doubt about Wilson. He made Indiana a threat to pull off the BIG upset every time they took the field. I'm not technically qualified to express an opinion on Beck. I do know he was supposed to bring talent in from Texas and it looks like he did. Actual coaching may have been beyond his grasp - someday someone is going to write a book about what happened to that 2015 team and eyes will be opened. And Warriner... the line play improved so much once he replaced Bollman and remained good until he had to be saddled with Beck's job. So I'm thinking either he was a victim of Beck's inability, or Bollman was so bad that Warriner looked fantastic.
Interesting take. I think you have some here when it comes to Warriner having to compensate. We were forewarned by Alex on here about how bad Beck was and boy it played out right in front of our eyes.

Beck could recruit but we didn't need a recruiter we needed a coach and that didn't happen. As a result Becks responsibilities seemed to shrink as his two years unfolded and more was put on Warriners plate. Which is why I think we saw the offensive line deteriorate these past two years as well.

Warriner should've never been relieved as the OL coach and when it was clear that Beck didn't A) understand our system and B) couldn't pull his weight it became impossible for Warriner (who was in over his head running solo) to keep both the OL and the offense running up to snuff.

Back on topic though... Once Wilson was stupidly fired by IU I really knew we needed him. It was like when Tressel resigned and we all knew UFM was sitting at home. Perfect match in both situations.
