Game Thread Spring Game, Sat 04/15/17 @ 12:30 ET (BTN)

I just watched the game since I recorded it. My son told me how awesome JT looked. I thought he looked OK, not great, but in his defense he did not get as many chances or opportunities either. With that said, I thought JT looked like the 3rd best QB on the field today. I posted last year that I thought Burrow should have been given some more reps and a shot at times. I thought he had better fundamentals than JT. Today, Burrow was the second best QB in my humble opinion. I thought Haskins demonstrated the most arm strength, great placement, and the ball comes out quick with some velocity on it. He really impressed me.

I am not sure exactly what routes we were running that were different from last year, but there sure seemed to be some guys WIDE ASS OPEN today that we haven't seen in two years, against what should be one of the better secondaries in the nation next year. That is more than encouraging. I am giving that credit to Wilson. Also, for our Oline to suck so bad, facing what most agree to be the best and deepest Dline in the country, they more than held their own.

JT had three series against the 1s. The other QBs played against the 2s and 3s.

Keep that in mind.

i'm far from being an expert but I was very encouraged by JT's time on the field yesterday. It was obvious the footwork is being addressed and the accuracy on a lot of his throws were on the money. These were throws that he was putting into the ground, over the head or horribly behind receivers the last two seasons under the previous coach. If you go back and re-watch the game just focus on that and not on the deep ball yet. if he's as accurate as he was in 2014 I think the offense will not have any issues making us all happy Game Thread posters this fall.

Cardale won the long ball competition standing still. 66 yds. Said if he had more time to warm up he could've thrown for 80 yds. Guy's got a cannon. I really hope he finds success in the NFL.

At the last long ball competition, he said he could have thrown further except that his arm was tired out from playing the first half of the scrimmage. I would not take anything he says too seriously. I'd say he has mastered trash talking pretty well.

I'm very concerned about the tackling on the last play. I haven't seen players shy away from contact like that since the last time I saw Jabrill Peppers play.

Yeah but that kid has better wheels than Peppers does. Not to mention Jarvis has a better Touches/TD ratio than Peppers.
