Star Wars (May the Force be with you)

I really liked the humanity and depth of the characters. The mask could have lasted longer to preserve some mystique but it also connected you with the character.

Yeah, I mean, I think that was intentional (to go back and forth) because he does seem to be struggling with his heritage and humanity. (And as Solo points out, he doesn't really need it, as in Lord Helmet's case, to keep him alive, but, a couple more smacks in the face with Rey's lightsaber, and that might change.)

I swear they've watched it 8 times since we bought it last week.

Is that wrong?

The more I watch it, the more I'm convinced that Han DOESN'T know who Rey is, but Leia DOES. But I don't think Rey is Leia's daughter. I also don't think Kylo Ren knows who Rey is. Luke knows who she is. And he is NOT happy to see her. He has the expression on his face like, "You've just doomed yourself, me, the new republic. Everyone."

I could see Rey being Obi Wan's granddaughter, or maybe his niece or grand-niece. I know someone in this thread asked why she has to be related to anyone. Well, the scene in Maz's dungeon needs to be there for something. But what? Rey has to be related to someone, unfortunately.

That might just be Hamill though. He looks pissed off a lot.

I thought his expression was more of a pained reunion thing, like he was surprised to see her (although I'm sure he knew vaguely what was happening before she even got there via the Force) and feeling pain at leaving her behind on Jakku or knowing what happened to her parents.

Although yes, Hamill's default look seems to be "pissed off."

Obi Wan was originally suppose to survive his battle with Vader. Peter Mayhew has been tweeting out pics of his original script. Pretty interesting stuff.

From the comments:

If Obi Wan lives, then there would be no need for Yoda. And he could have mentioned that Luke probably shouldn’t kiss Leia, who Luke’s mother was, and that Anakin was only mostly dead.

Of course, R2 could have filled Luke in on that stuff too. But I think we can mostly agree that R2 enjoys trolling the stupid humans around him.

I think you need to have Obi Wan die there to complete the classic "knight's tale". If he survives, does HE blow up the death star? If not, why not? And yeah - no Yoda. Although.... with the way that the original script went, Vader tells Luke that Obi Wan killed his father. That might have been an interesting wrench to throw into the beehive: Obi Wan survives IV, we find out he killed Luke's father in V, and we spend VI finding out that the Empire is the good team and Vader wants to be the good guy dad to Luke. That doesn't really fit with the whole "we murdered your aunt and uncle, along with millions or billions of innocents on Alderaan" thing.

new theory from the trailer of Rogue One. I didn't even notice it really, but some are saying the hooded figure could be the Emperor in front of a Bacta Tank, with Snope being in the tank. Interesting theory that has some legs from what I read. Just didn't really look like a Bacta tank.
