Persols showed up yesterday. Happy with my 50% off buy. Took a drive up Lake Shore Drive on a sunny morning with them today, and I dig their style. Wore the old Vuarnets on the drive back to see if I'd notice the sratching (I didn't), and those are much more serious hard-core skiing sunglasses from a sun blocking perspective. There was a marked difference, so I doubt the Persols would make the grade against the sun bouncing off a Lake Tahoe ski slope, but they'll look a hell of a lot better with a grey suit.

Oh, and while I won't post some cheesy "unboxing" photos, the Persol packaging is hilariously over the top--two boxes (not counting the shipping box) and the leather case before I actually got to the damned glasses.

So, I need a new pair of sunglasses like a tsun t-shirt, but here we are. Ray Ban smart glasses. They take pics and videos, answer calls and can play music.

I need a brand that I can still read cell phone texts without having to remove them... that's why I still have an inclination for Revo
what other brands should I be looking at to read a cell phone...
PS and I'd old so it has to be really clear... 20/30 distance still but I need reading distance clarity

I have a variety of Ray Ban, Persol and Vuarnet in grey, green, blue and yellow lenses. I find my Persols with the blue lenses the best for reading my phone or tablet. Now, I don't know if that's a function of Persol or blue lenses.

My guess is the blue. I have smith polarized in bronze mirror and blue mirror as well as non polarized (multiple) red sun mirror and the blue is the only one I see the phone with well. (Not counting the low light lenses)

Anyone use Maui Jim's? Ord, they're made in Chicago or Hawaii. Truly like their style(s), tad over-priced. Daughter bought a pair in St. Maarten, and I choked, but when I bought a pair (prescription lens), did a bit more than that. Worth it, and two year scratch protection.

I have one pair of MJs. Got them because they were really similar to a pair of Serengetis that I loved but were lower price so if I got hit by another lacrosse ball in the face it wouldn’t matter so much.

I’ve been pleased with them overall, but they are sitting in a drawer unused. I’m traveling today and have Serengeti with glass lenses as they are my go to.

I have expanded my Aviator collection recently. Got a pair of 55mm gold frame with amber lenses… love those. Another pair of 55 gold frame mirror lens and a 58mm gunmetal with fade gray. The younger Sparcbox has taken over the gunmetal frames. They look better on him than on me so I let it go.

Sparc, you're a conesseur (sp?) Just got cataract surgery, corrected left eye from 20/400 to 20/20. Wow. Soooo, can buy regular sunglasses instead of paying for prescription ones. Waiting for right eye to be done next week, so picked up a Costco cheapo. Will probably expand later, unless eye doc finds something else wrong.....

Thats amazing results for you. I hope the other one comes out as successful.

I have to guess that your choice is personal preference. My wife has corrected eyes (LASIK) and even though her script is less than mine, prefers script sunglasses.

I’m running with one of two contacts in… and have been for almost a week.

I don’t think my advice here is worth following… but I’d give it a rip with non-script lenses and see if it works. You can always have new script lenses dropped in good frame that are designed for it.

I have found that the optics from a good pair of sunglasses cannot be met by anything with any script lens… aside from the G15 B&L lens, but it’s one of my least favorite lenses ever.

good luck with your second eye!
