Suitland?s Taivon Jacobs: a top football, track recruit
By James Wagner

(Jonathan Newton - WASHINGTON POST) Every afternoon, there?s a bundle of mail waiting for speedy Suitland junior Taivon Jacobs. College upon college, track and football coaches alike, have been wooing the 5-foot-10, 160-pound standout athlete ? an All-Met wide receiver in the fall and an All-Met sprinter this winter. The family receives between 10 and 15 letters from schools each day, according to father Levern Jacobs, Jr.

?It?s kind of overwhelming the mail that we?re getting now,? he said.

Since the fall, Taivon Jacobs?s list of football suitors has ballooned. During the season, he had offers from Maryland (the first to offer him) and North Carolina.

Now, there are nine schools and counting. Ohio State coaches extended a verbal offer during Jacobs?s trip to the school last week, according to his father. Nebraska offered the week before and Notre Dame did so this week. He also has offers from Boston College, East Carolina, Hawaii and West Virginia.

He's electric no doubt about that! That ten minute highlight film is pretty impressive. Would make a great addition for the offense, special teams and hell why not a little defense too! Just hope this kid from MD doesn't have a repeat type of drama like last year:oh:

It does not appear that he understands ball control, time of possession offense. Not a good match for Tressel ball. I don't remember seeing a hilight film with more touchdowns.

I heard somewhere that MD already had a playmaker/slasher type athlete.

Taivon Jacobs

Hello, I'm new to the page. I've known Taivon for years and he and my son use to run track together. Taivon is number 1 in the nation in the 400 and #2 in the 200. He is a blazer, but as you can see from his film a very explosive football player. I currently coach the RBs at Suitland HS now, so I see Taivon every day. He is all his film shows and I personally think one of the top 2013 recruits in the nation. He is a very great kid and never gets into trouble. He is an ideal program kid. His brother committed to Maryland this year to play WR. Someone asked MD about the comp he has played against. Suitland is in the top highest league for public schools in Maryland. Suitland has won 2 state championships and lost two with the last win I believe in 2007. The league is called the PG 4A and you can ask any coach in the other 3 regions of Maryland and they will tell you that the PG 4A is the toughest league in MD from top to bottom and they are glad these teams have to play each at least twice before the regional playoffs begin because they beat each other up. So, with that said, as far as his comp, it is top comp. Not only does he, but many other recruits from this area go nationally to compete and put their names on the map as they show out against some of the top players nationally. I can assure you what you see on his film he can do against the best. He is confident, but not cocky and works hard every day to get better as he will tell you he has to work to become the best. If he ends up a Buckeye, maybe I'll see some of you at the game and trust me, he will not disappoint. Some pros from Suitland HS: RB LaMont Jordan, DB Madieu Williams and currently San Fran LB Navorro Bowman. I apologize for the long post:)
