Decommitted from Tennessee after having been originally been committed to WVU... OSU has arrived on the scene in a big way. Also interested in Oregon, BC, and Virginia

Great turn of events for OSU (given their edge of disaster depth chart at QB). I came away very impressed when I saw him at the Akron 7x7 (much moreso than with Heastie, actually).

Phoebus is an annual powerhouse, and is set to play in the big school state championship game after going undefeated and blowing people out all year. Boyd is a 2-time 1st team all-area (Peninsula District - doesn't include Chesapeake & Kevin Newsome) quarterback, as selected by the local coaches. He threw for more yardage last season as a junior (about 2,000 yards, 70% completion) than this season (about 1,300 yards and 57% completion), but he has not needed to be any better.

The local paper is reporting that Kiffin met with Boyd and informed him that Tennessee would not be honoring its scholarship offer.

Report: Boyd's scholarship offer from Tennessee pulled
Daily Press Tajh Boyd is back on the market.

According to rivals.com, new Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin contacted Boyd's father early this week and told him the Vols weren't going to honor Boyd's commitment.

The 6-foot-0, 208-pound Phoebus quarterback committed to West Virginia In April but pulled back in October. He then committed to Tennessee a month later.

Boyd, who has led the Phantoms into Saturday's state championship game against Dinwiddie, will have plenty of schools still interested in his services. Included are Oregon, Florida State, Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Penn State.

Rivals reports that Boyd will narrow his list after this weekend and likely set up some visits.

You seem pretty confident.

I like that.
no, not there yet, but the opportunity here is pretty stellar. Be one injury away from starting and have 2-3 years to run the show after Pryor. A long ways to go for '10 recruiting, but there's also a chance that Boyd's only competition after Pryor is Miller, who will be 2 years behind him.

Wow. It seems like every athletic kid in the state of Virginia is playing QB after Michael Vick played there.

The area has a ton of talent, and you are correct in that many athletic quarterbacks have come from there: Aaron Brooks, Michael Vick, Bryan Randall, Marcus Vick, Ronald Curry, Marques Hagans, and Tyrod Taylor.
