I'm not Catholic, so perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't think you're changing the wafer whatsoever. It's done in remembrance of him, to remember what he gave to you. If it actually turned into actual flesh (with veins, fat and maybe hair follicles), there would be a lot of vomiting in church.

Yeah, but I'd pay to watch.

The Catholic church teaches that the "substance" of the wafer and wine become the body and blood of Jesus, yet for all practical purposes they look like wafer and wine still. Talk about an unfalsifiable claim!

I remember at the age of 8, my first communion. Before receiving communion I was so scared: "What is it gonna taste like? What is it gonna taste like?"

They are different, but evolution has a long ways to go to be declared as "true", and currently relies on assumptions/faith as well.

False. Evolution is entirely falsifiable. Find a fossil of a mammal in a pre-cambrian rock layer, or (to use the example so beloved of young earth creationists), find a human skeleton among dinosaur remains, and you have falsified evolution.

When Christ handed out the bread, they were chomping on flesh? No wonder it was such a somber dinner, and Judas was eager to leave.
:slappy: you're a sick man
"26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body." 27 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins."

You can interpret them as you like.

If they had to be told what it was, it probably wasn't blood. Do this in remembrance of me is a key portion of that verse. His body was still there and intact during that statement and during the first ceremonial chewing of the bread.

I'd like to see you say that to Sister Mary Immaculata's face!

Heard a stand-up bit on that topic last night:

Right. And if it WAS his body and blood, how'd he break it to them? Before the meal? Nah, nobody would eat that. Probably sometime halfway through the meal.

"Hey guys...what do you think of dinner? Pretty good, right? Yeah.....that's my body and that wine.......yeah, you're drinking my blood."

That Jesus was quite the prankster.

I've often reminded my wife that I want my ashes sprinkled into the funeral food (appetizers, whatever), so that they'll all return home with a little bit of Josh inside of them. Yes, Akak you can pay to see that too.

The reaction is worth it every time.

Shouldn't this be on the Politics and Religion forum? I'm still sort of working out which goes where with this Philosophical musings board.

There is no such thing as a politics and religion forum :wink2:

This thread is in the correct forum, if you ask me. If the question was more about the politics of science education or creationism, then I'd see it more a Poli board thread than a Philo Musings one.
