I doubt it - why would it be more stringent than what we do in the federal government? We have the same rules about retaining records and it's extremely easy to turn off if someone wanted to do so. Usually, the onus for saving and retaining pertinent records is on the user, not the administrator.

I don't see anyone disagreeing with that. I really wish we'd skipped the Gator Bowl the following year as well.

They can trace messages via headers and whatnot, and if the email went past one of the sniffers they could reconstruct some of it (if it's not an encrypted email at least) but when it comes to being "locked down", well,

Like I said, if someone knows where to look I would almost guarantee they can turn off cached exchange mode and have everything delivering to a .pst file - which means off of the server itself - simply because that's the easiest way to do it and results in less overhead administratively, especially for heavy email users.

When I worked for the AF, they tried to force everyone to use a .ost file and it was simply a disaster - especially if that .ost file was huge and became part of a corrupted profile. Since 99.9% of large enterprise backup solutions recommend that you do not back up local drives on individual machines, and I consider Ohio State a large enterprise, there is the potential for significant holes in the theory that everything is archived.
