Taver Johnson (DB Coach Oakland Raiders)

Without quoting directly from a premium article, a Buckeye fan who writes for ESPN made comments along the line of Johnson locking stuff (and that wasn't the word used) down, his relating to kids on their level, and his being relentless. Article made it seem that he will excel at the recruiting aspect...

Good enough for me

Johnson tells players to enjoy all-star experience

Ohio State cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson speaks to the recent high school graduates who will be playing in the northwest Ohio regional all-star game Friday night at Perrysburg.
( THE BLADE/LORI KING )

Taver Johnson stood in front of nearly 100 recent high school graduates sitting on bleachers underneath a white tarp on the football practice field Tuesday at Perrysburg Junior High.

The Ohio State cornerbacks coach shared his appreciation for the game he learned while growing up in Cincinnati. He reminded the group preparing to play in the 20th annual northwest Ohio regional all-star football game set for 7:30 p.m. Friday to enjoy this moment in their lives.

"Go have fun," Johnson said. "Friday night will be here before you know it. Enjoy every second."

Thank you Coach Johnson for the work you put in with the players this entire year. To go through so many injuries at very difficult times goes to show how well you had the lower string players prepared and ready to step in at a moment's notice. Kudos to you Coach! You have done a helluva job!

Taver was one of my favorite coaches while I was there. He was always enthusiastic and excited about what we were doing. I worked on the offensive side of the ball but got to work with him week to week with special teams. The guy is awesome.

Just coming over to see what y'all thought about Coach Johnson.

Seeing lots of smoke down here about this.

Ohio State Coach Urban Meyer introduced his staff at a Buckeyes' basketball game on Sunday, but Johnson was not among the assistants introduced, according to the Twitter feed of Kyle Rowland of the Ohio State-affiliated Rivals site. Rowland added that Johnson is headed to Arkansas.

Pretty darn highly.

Great great move for your defensive staff, Smoov. Haynes, and Johnson to a lesser extent, will continue to impress and grow into a great head coaching candidates down the road.

Enjoy 'em.

I sure hope so. If he's anything like Coach Haynes, we'll see an immediate improvement.

Coach Haynes had our Defense looking better in the Cotton Bowl than it has in a long, long time in just a few short weeks.

He was our CB coach, and I've seen that he's likely the LB coach at Arkansas. I believe that was where a lot of his prior experience as an assistant coach was, if I'm not mistaken. He's an excellent coach, very intense, also he was one of our better recruiters.

Great pick-up Smoov. Him and Haynes will have that defense playing on a high level.

It was officially announced here in Arkansas a little while ago.

Thanks Buckeyes!
