Technically a TE is still consdered OL so no worries. Only thing I'd say is don't blaspheme about coach Warriner and "a few more years". We're NEVER letting him go!

Not bad for a school that underutilizes the TE position though huh? Sending them to the league regardless so somebody must know something. Welcome aboard Jake!!!!

THE HURRY UP: BUCKEYE COMMITS SHINE AT THE OPENING, BIG CAT WEEKEND HITS BUCKEYES AND MORE
  • Jake Hausmann // TE // 2016
Jake Hausmann looks, at first glance, like a college tight end already. Today, I saw an active, aggressive tight end who runs excellent routes, catching the football with his hands and away from his body. As a tight end at Ohio State, how he helps the run game is going to be a major part of his game, but that wasn't on display today. Overall, Hausmann, who was invited to The Opening, competed hard and didn't disappoint.

2016 OHIO STATE COMMIT JAKE HAUSMANN COULD BE A FUTURE BUCKEYES STAR

As Jake Hausmann and nine others stood in front of hundreds of other high school players, the Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller product looked a little bit different than the other guys who stood next to him after earning invitations to The Opening.

There was a giant rip in the middle of Hausmann’s shirt.

“I got ripped up by a DB,” Hausmann said with a laugh following The Opening regional camp in Columbus on Sunday afternoon.

The rip in Hausmann’s shirt happened while he was trying to get open during a 1-on-1 drill with a defensive back. It appeared to be the only way defenders could slow him down all day.

Hausmann, a four-star tight end in the 2016 class and Ohio State commit, was one of the standout offensive players at Sunday’s camp. His invitation to The Opening — one of the premier high school football camps in the country — was proof of that.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, Hausmann has the perfect frame to be a big-time tight end at the college level. It’s for that reason, plus his skill set on the field, why he had scholarship offers from other high-level college programs like Florida State, Georgia and Notre Dame.

First time I got to watch his entire highlight film but I am not kidding, this kid might start for us day 1. Incredible hands, breaks in and out of his routes like a WR, fantastic at catching the ball in traffic, super athletic, very good size, competes at the highest level (highlights against X, Eds, etc.), and he is a much better in-line blocker that I thought. His blocking technique is rough but he is very willing, so he will be taught up and with a little time in a college S&C program, he will be the whole package. Only significant critiques I have are that he needs to be decisive after catching the ball in the open field or he will get killed at the next level getting caught flat footed, and the top end speed is not really there...not much of a critique though because he is so athletic, quick, and runs great routes, so he will be a great intermediate threat and in the redzone. Just a fantastic prospect though and the best TE prospect I have seen coming into Columbus.
