From Irish Eyes...Jake talks about his recent trip to ND. He and Mike are going to UM's Junior Day and OSU's Pro Day as well as an unofficial to Tennessee next month.

Film.

My take: Strength is obvious versus smaller DBs. Shows a little bit better speed and agility then I would have imagined. Seems to have very soft hands. Not as interested in the slip screen stuff as I doubt he will be going much of that in college, but I do like the clips where is going up and attacking the ball in the air. Probably the best comparison I could make would be Fred Davis when he was in HS (spare us the "as long as he doesn't pull a Fred Davis" jokes) or maybe Jermichael Finley at Texas. Maybe even a slightly bigger version of David Ausberry.

Those are some pretty lofty comparisons...

Never said he would turn out like any of them...just comparing his film to film of those guys when they were Juniors in HS. The jury is still out on all three as far as college goes.

Career numbers so far:

Davis - will be a RS Junior - 17 catches for 175 yards 2 TDs
Finley - will be a RS Sophmore - 23 catches for 326 yards 3 TDs
Ausberry - will be a RS Freshman - redshirted his freshman year

Why doesnt he already have one? Any ideas on that?

Probably b/c the staff is still evaluating him to decide where exactally to offer him as a TE or WR or a hybrid and there we already have offers out ot Rudolph who is a 6'7'' TE and a couple 6'4'' receivers that are top 100 type guys...

Either way Stoneburner will get a long hard look especially being right in our backyard...Could be a camp type offer...

OSU needs a faster TE in either Moore or Stoneburner to make mismatches against LBs and make a great reciever on 2nd or 3rd and short. We already let a pretty good recieving TE go (Cumberland). I just hope we don't let both of these guys slip out of ohio.
