TE Jake Stoneburner (Official Thread)

Jake with his second TD grab on the year.

Finding a home in Miami.
He and Jordan Cameron make for a pretty good receiving duo from the TE spot. Not sure Dion Sims will get much playing time when he comes back outside of blocking duties. At least, he shouldnt. Love it when Buckeyes show out in Miami. Totally need Zeke or Bosa to be a Dolphin next year.

Let me tell you a story about Jake Stoneburner.

I went to the same high school as him. I was a year older, graduated in 2007. Although our paths rarely crossed much in high school, he was always nice to me (and pretty much everyone else) and would wave or nod every time he saw me in the halls. As a quiet kid who didn't have a ton of friends (nearly all of my friends went to Jerome), this simple acknowledgement meant a lot to me. It always brought a smile to face, always made my day a little better.

Years later after I had graduated college, my then girlfriend at the time got a teaching job up in De Pere (right next to Green Bay). It just so happens that year Jake got signed by the Packers. I actually had no idea until I saw him in the movie theaters for a matinee showing. I came up to him and he recognized me immediately and still remembered my name. I was shocked.

We talked for a brief moment (mostly expressing our disbelief of how small the world was), and I quickly wrapped up the conversation so he could get on with his life. I had warm fuzzies for at least a week after that, plus my girlfriend was like "WOW YOU KNOW A NFL PLAYER" so that got me some points too.

So thank you Jake; as trivial as it may seem, your small gestures in high school really made a huge difference in my life. I'll never forget it.

9. JAKE STONEBURNER, 2012
A consistent, four-year player, Jake Stoneburner is one of the most recognizable Ohio State tight ends in recent history. The 6-foot-3 Buckeye averaged nearly 17 yards per catch his redshirt senior season, the third-highest mark in program history.

The Dublin native finished the bowl-ban season with 269 yards and four touchdowns.
