TE Marcel Frost (official thread)

Great read. I was talking to somebody the other day and when I said Frost would have a good year he looked at me funny and asked if I was serious. A tight end? I say hell yes. I look for big things from Frost. Glad to hear he's been putting the pieces together.

Frost is such a beast on the field.
I have noticed he likes to talk some smack though, so he needs to watch that to a point. I think you have to jab a little, just dont take it too far.
I look for him to have a big year

Very touching story on Marcel. I didn't realize all the hardships he had to go through to get here. I too hope he has a huge year.

Also, the article nailed it. Forcing opposing defenses to commit to the TE will just free up Ginn and Co. to make more big plays. Also, it can't hurt Troy to have a clutch TE when things get messy. Just look at Texas' David Thomas and how many times he bailed out Vince Young last year.

Just re-watching the Michigan game and Fiesta Bowl here, and I am re-impressed with Marcel Frost's potential to be a serious weapon in the passing game next year. If his blocking is consistently strong enough to keep him on the field, he can really rough up the underbelly of defenses that are keying on Smith, Ginn, and Pittman.

I think both Frost and Nicol will both be utilized in the passing game this year. Both have impressed me and especially Nicol in the spring game. Both have their own style and will contribute.

Frost has all the physical tools, but he just needs to improve his hands.

He dropped a couple of easy passes in the Spring Game...

Hamby-esq. Seriously, from the moment Hamby stepped on the gridiron he was a great blocker, but his hands were always in question, along with his consentration (he had too many penalties).

I think Frost has some stiff competition at OSU, but what makes him stand out is his speed. Hes agressive off the line and is Tressel's type of TE. If he gets his pass catching abilities together and remains healthy, he will be in the two deep easily for the rest of his career.

im not ready to write him off after the spring game. while he did seem to have a case of the dropsies that day, he had a very nice 1 handed catch against scum last year as well as being rather sure handed on the season. don't think i saw him drop a single pass last season during a game.

with him and nicol, im rather confident in our te's going into this season.

Agreed. He had great hands last year when it counted--during games. Additionally, he was a road-grader with his blocks. I don't understand when people critique him for pass catching and blocking.

Frost is a stud.
