Teddy Bridgewater (QB Denver Broncos)

BuckeyeNation27;1654835; said:
if you graduate or not depends on one thing. that one thing doesn't change, even if you change schools 100 times.

This isn't about whether or not he will graduate, it's about the structure and the care if your players are graduating. I can tell you for certain the structure and lack of holding players accountable for attending class was much different at Ohio State than at UC (under Kelly). One of these two was more concerned with winning games than the student part of student-athlete.

Good point. Having a strong african american community at the school is probably going to be a big factor for Teddy as well.

Bridgewater Likes the SEC
February 11, 2010 by Luke Stampini

...
?I don?t have a list (of schools) or anything like that,? said Bridgewater. ?I can just name the conference that I like the most, the SEC, basically the schools in the SEC.?

That is an interesting statement on his recruitment, considering the hometown Miami Hurricanes are not members of the SEC. Bridgewater was vague when asked about the Hurricanes and the chances they have for his services.

?I think they are going to have a great program, going to have a big turnaround,? said Bridgewater. ?I just look forward to seeing what they do.?
...
During this interview, Bridgewater stated he wanted to play quarterback at the next level with no mention of wide receiver.

Tacoi Sumler and Eli Rogers were only two of the prospects that helped the receiver group stand out at the Under Armour Miami combine. - ESPN

Rogers' high school teammate, Teddy Bridgewater, also plays receiver, but he worked out primarily at quarterback on Sunday. He did also take some reps at receiver and made the most of his opportunities. Bridgewater has good size, runs good routes and has good hands.

was not a very deep group, but Bridgewater was the best Class of 2011 prospect at this position. He put up good testing times, particularly in the short shuttle (4.13) and L-cone (7.25). He also broad-jumped 9-11, which was one of the top marks on the day.

One of the top programs in South Florida, and the nation for that matter, is Miami Northwestern and the Bulls were well represented at the event. In attendance was their returning starting signal caller Teddy Bridgewater, who was the best 2011 quarterback prospect at the combine. He's a good overall athlete and many feel he could fit better at another position in college, like wide receiver, and with some of his test scores he will have a hard time changing some of those thoughts. The battled-tested starter posted a good 7.25 three-cone drill and an impressive 4.13 short shuttle. While Bridgewater may have to convince some people, he is an interesting prospect at the quarterback position. His mechanics are not great and he will not wow you in basic position drills, but once it becomes competitive he seems to elevate his game. In one-on-ones and seven-on-seven he looked sharp, displaying good arm strength and accuracy. Bridgewater likely still has an uphill battle in front of him as a quarterback prospect and he did not definitively clear the air one way or the other with his performance on Sunday, but he is a winner and someone to watch closely.

Driskel, Bridgewater to headline Elite 11 regional

Bridgewater leads powerhouse Miami Northwestern and the 6-foot-3, 170-pound recruit could play quarterback or wide receiver in college. He was outstanding at the Nike 7on Tournament in Beaverton, Ore., last summer and has many college options.
...
"He's a Division I player at two positions because he's also a fantastic wide receiver," Rivals.com recruiting analyst Greg Ladky said of Bridgewater. "The one thing that really struck me, that surprised me, at the 7-on-7 event last summer was his accuracy. "Over that two-day tournament he was the top player on the championship team and he made some very good throws. Usually when you have an athletic kid who excels at another position you don't think of him as being a really polished, accurate thrower but Bridgewater showed it that week. It will be interesting to see how he does in the very technical setting of an Elite 11 workout."

Making His Case
For the second weekend in a row, I got a chance to see Teddy Bridgewater (Miami, Fla./Northwestern) in action. Despite his success on game days, there is a perception that the athletic quarterback might be a better wide receiver prospect at the college level. I'm not one of those who thinks that. I believe Bridgewater can make the transition from high school quarterback to college QB. I will admit he may be an acquired taste at the position as he does not always show great technique or mechanics and possesses a lean build. He has shown, though, that he is a winner and a competitor, and at the Elite 11 he had his best outing in drill work. He can be an accurate passer and consistently displayed that throughout the event. He looked solid in his footwork and not shockingly did well throwing on the move. He has a long list of offers, including Alabama, Florida, Miami and West Virginia, and when approached afterward he did not shoot down the idea of playing wide receiver, but was very confident in his ability at quarterback. The debate about where Bridgewater will fit best in college will likely continue, but he helped his cause as a quarterback prospect with his performance.

ESPNU 150 quarterback Teddy Bridgewater picks the Hurricanes

Rated No. 7 among the nation's quarterback prospects, Teddy Bridgewater of Miami Northwestern (Miami, Fla.) has committed to Miami-Florida for the Class of 2011.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound standout was also sought by Florida, Alabama, Rutgers, Tennessee, Auburn, South Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Michigan, Marshall and West Virginia, among others.

Bridgewater passed for 2546 yards and 32 touchdowns as a junior. He added 400 yards and eight scores on the ground.

His high school teammate, ESPNU 150 receiver Eli Rogers, has also picked Miami. Rogers spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site InsideTheU.com about the pair's commitment, "Teddy told me he was ready and we already had planned that we would commit on the same day to whatever college we go to."

"We had silently committed already about three or four weeks ago. I was waiting on him (Teddy) and he told me today that we should make it official so I said alright," Rogers concluded.

The Hurricanes now have four pledges.
