TenneCheat VolunTears (but..but..but.. we're good at baseball)

Coach Pruitt responses have strong Fulmer vibes.

His previous stops have been Bama, UGA and FSU, so I can understand his shock. Knoxville PD needs to shape up.

A lot of it depends on how publicly a player gets in trouble.

Bobby Bowden seemed to forget this near the end; he publicly lamented that in the good ole days he could handle things privately with the police most of the time. He seemed unaware that it’s just harder to do things privately these days

Hang on....

Yeah, I think I've heard this before.....

An aging football coach seems incredulous about no longer being able to hide things that have been concealed from the public in the past and reacts with annoyance when people demand answers about what he's covered up......

why on Earth does this sound so familiar to me?

Anyone have any ideas?

So here's the thing about Tennessee...I see no viable reason they shouldn't be a program that can at least be challenging in their division regularly. They have a solid history/tradition, a 100K stadium that they fill. Good location. Solid talent base to mine from. The fact that they have been trash for at least a dozen years now is bordering on criminal incompetence. Not surprising, though. Their last coaching search exposed what a toxic cesspool their AD is.

actually, the talent base isn’t great.
they have to go out of state for their best talent.

problem is that there is a better program in most of the bordering states.

Seems to me that Alabama has probably absorbed the bulk of the players Tennessee would have formerly pulled - while the two programs are rivals, they have rarely been dominant at the same time, and the rivalry has generally been streaky one way or the other (exception for the late 1980s, where Alabama was usually ranked lower or unranked and still had a winning streak against the Vols.)
