Thad Matta (OSU's All Time Winningest Coach & 3x B1G COY, Butler HC)

Rumors flying that he's using it to bargain with Louisville. Would prefer that job.
Louisville, of course, would be closer to his roots but when he was at Ohio State he recruited the hell out of Georgia and I think that he must know quite a few of the Georgia high school head coaches. I still think the man can coach but recruiting is the bigger issue IMO

so far, it seems that i was wrong that matta would rehab for 2 (or maybe 3) years and make that sweet, sweet unemployment coin. if he's going to take the georgia, louisville, or whatever job for next season, then i think that says a lot about his mental and especially physical state.

if matta is going to take either the georgia or the louisville job, i hope it's the dawgs.

Would be interesting to see who he hires for assistants. Paulus and Dickerson will likely be available. Although I'm not sure Dickerson is still interested in coaching since I saw his wife was sick. I'm sure they are nice guys but I think Thad needs to find some more capable people

I did not know that about Dickerson's wife and I am sorry to hear that. Best of luck to both of them.

If he turns down this one, I think we can say he's not really looking for work.

pitt is an absolute mess, though. it's easier to rebuild a basketball program than it is a football program, but he'd be starting from scratch. then again, pitt does have a history from which to build upon, the expectations would be low, and he'd probably have carte blanche to make the program his own from the ground-up.
